Obviously heat will be a problem when running open O2 housing. I don't want to do it, but the shop that made my downpipe f'd it up so it totally doesn't fit. I need to take it somewhere so I'm trying to decide if I should just bolt it to the O2 housing and let the downpipe hang and take it somewhere or if I can drive open O2 housing for a while to get it fixed? The downpipe hangs really low so it'd be scraping most of the way ... still a good idea to put it on though rather than driving without one?

If you don't mind scraping the dp up, I'd put it on. Otherwise you will be swimming in exhaust fumes, which could lead to troubles. At least this would dump it out farther under the car, and won't turn your entire engine bay a sooty shade of black.
