Well my clutch started to feel like crap today so I bled it. First I pushed in the slave piston to try the reverse method and now I can only get pressure when I have the bleeder locked down, pedal up and then push in the slave piston. I went back to the traditional way and it won't build any pressure. What to do next? I've bled many, many times and still no pressure. There are no threads left on the master cylinder rod as its adjusted all the way out. The car won't go into gear with it off, but will with it on.

First check for leaks at the slave/master cyl for possible air to come in the system. Also when you push the clutch pedal to the floor when you have pressure, does it stay down and not come backup itself?

Checked for leaks and there is none. If I push the slave in it will have some pressue and the clutch returns like normal. Then I proceed to bleed it. I have someone push it to the floor and hold as I crack the bleeder, tighten it back, pick up pedal and the pressure is gone. I repeated over and over and it just won't build pressure unless I push in the slave and then its still not enough to get it in gear with the car running.

If you have bled it several times, and there are no external fluid leaks that suggests air is getting into the system, or there is an internal failure of the slave cylinder/clutch master cylinder.

With a properly bled system, and a functioning clutch master cylinder/slave cylinder the pedal should always return to its stop. assuming the clutch fork is engaging the clutch release bearing, and the clutch pedal assembly itself is functioning correctly.

After installing an ACT 2600 years ago, the pedal pressure required to engage/disengage the 2600 wore out my clutch pedal assembly, I tried the extended slave rod, and had the clutch master cylinder fully extended but nothing worked. Then I found a thread about the pedal assembly wearing out, I got a new one and had it welded with some preload on it and my problems went away.

You could try bench bleeding the clutch master cylinder itself, you could even go as far as remoing the slave cylinder and hard line, and after you bench bleed the clutch master cylinder connect the slave and bleed it as well on the bench just to see whats going on and possibly identify which component is not working correctly.... Or just replace both! :thumb:
