Okay, so this is a "special edition, race car driver backed" sports car that only has visual modifictions? I know you said they were planning on a different engine, but why would they even bother making a prototype with out enhancing performance?

Edit: I don't doubt that this thing is legit, I just don't understand why they wouldn't even up the boost or something.

Lookin' good, but somehow still missing the whole picture. Could you make some of those pics less-zoomed in? That looks like a different steering wheel, I'd love to see the rest of it, including that rear end. It looked from the other pics like you have a different bumper too. Those seats look real comfortable :)

The DSM shootout is an event that Buschur Racing holds every year (usually late July-August) up in Norwalk, Ohio. They get a huge assortment of DSM owners there every year from all over the country.

That is one sharp car!! I luv it!!

I suggest doing one mod, and that would be the chiclet mod, cause I luv the look of my laser with the head lights on and the pop ups down. This mod is very easy and would not degrade value, as you are only removing a diode from the wiring harness located on the lower passenger side kick panel. I believe this is on VFAQ page and probably listed here on this site. Just do not lose the diode!!

Do the center parking lights work? Mine only worked as turn signals, but yet, they had the double filament bulbs and the extra terminal in the socket for the parking lights. For some reason, there was no wiring connected to that terminal, even though, wiring diagrams showed that it should be there! I simply inserted a wire in the socket and jumpered into the parking circuit from the side marker lights. Note, I did this without cutting any wires, so it is completely reversible. I am not suggesting doing this to your car, just curious if they work or not. I think it looks dumb without the center lights lit up. Check my gallery for pics.

I am sure I will catch all kinds of hell for the above!! :shhh:

Maybe you should inquire about adding this car and its history to the VFAQ page. That would be a cool addition to our DSM history.

FIY, if you drive, and IF you wreck it, may I suggest we ban you for life from this site!!

Personally, I cannot own a car that I would not drive, at least sometimes. Worst thing you can do to a car is just let it sit. But in your case, that would be a very tough call. And yes, I agree, you should have to wait a while longer before you get to drive it!!

Your VERY lucky!! Enjoy and have fun and BE SAFE!! :thumb: :laser:

Just thought of something………..This is the first time ever since I have been on here every hearing anyone say……..”DO NOT MOD YOUR CAR”. Lol. :laser:

thats a cool car because of its rarity, and because it was owned by Emmo!!!

And its in awesome shape.

What is that electrical thing screwed to the firewall?? That aint stock.

As for not modding it, I'd do some simple stealthy mods I would.

Take off the exhaust, manifold and all. Put in a ported 2g manifold and a 2.5" full exhaust with a Borla or other high grade Euro muffler.

Take out the factory maf and put in a used one with some mild modding and a K&N.

Take out the boost control solenoid and lines and put in a stealty manual boost controller and turn the boost to 16 psi.

If its an Eprom, put in a nice Keydiver chip, some ball/disc 550's and a bigger Denso pump.

Put on a set of later model big brakes.

Put all the stock stuff away so it can be put back on for shows etc.

Take off the factory turbo and put on a real nice small 16g.

Don't touch anything that isn't a direct bolt on and readily availiable incase you screw up.

I know this won't be popular, but this way you can still enjoy it, and I betcha if you did this correctly and professionally, it would still appear really stock looking, and sound just that bit nicer like it is a special car.

Betcha Emmo would like it better this way too.

You are one lucky dude and get well soon.

Oh my.... That thing is gorgeous.....I would not want to drive it, but I could not resist. What I would do it enter it into shows like SEMA or other competions and make some loot on it. If you like showing it off then there you go!

On another note, has anyone heard of the GSR-4 Eclipse. I don't remember if it was Euro-spec or J-spec, however it was RHD and it was rotting away in a junkyard, to bad the engine-tranny and other major parts were missing off it.

I did snag the rims off of of it, which were in OUTSTANDING condition!

EDIT** On second hand, It may have been LHD. It was a long time ago... hard to remember!

This is my Eclipse with the GSR-4 rims on it (for sale BTW).

Despite what everyone on this board is saying, I honestly doubt it's going to be worth any real money or at least not enough to warrant not driving it. Mod it, drive it, enjoy it. Cars aren't meant to be sitting in a garage. If you want it to sit, loan it to a museum (assuming they would take it) so lots of people can enjoy it, not just, umm you.

Sean - the GSR-4 was what the GSX was called in non- USDM regions. I'm pretty sure those aren't stock rims either unless they have a Mitsu emblem on them. GSR-4s came with 16" alloys, similar to the other EDM/JDM region cars. They were all LHD.

im not exactly sure, but it's a 1990

it should say it on a sticker somehwere I think when you open the door there should be a dsm sticker stating it.

To the person who mentioned the difference between the speedo cluster 140/145MPH difference, I believe that's 1990 thing.
IIRC, my 90 TSi AWD had 145MPH, and my 92 has 140MPH.

Not to be rude, but that's the attitude that people have when they end up driving a rare collector car into the ground. Obviously you haven't been active in the collector scene very much? The car definately has potential to be worth quite a bit of money, due to it being one of a kind factory model car. It's like having an autographed michael jordan rookie card. Basketball cards are meant to be traded and handled and all, but would you trade/handle your autographed jordan rookie card? probably not. It's the same way with cars. Some people collect them for their rarity, not to drive them. Because face it, if the kid drove the eclipse and it somehow got stolen or wrecked or anything, then there would be No fitipaldi talon in existance.

A little story..

A few years ago, I had a '78 camaro that I was working on, and I was pretty active with second gen camaros (working on friends, etc). I had a friend call me up and say that he was at this estate sale, and the old man that died had this old '79 camaro for sale really cheap, except it had a bunch of decals on it. He said it was in mint shape, so I told him to go for it. Long story short, he ended up taking the decals off, tearing out the interior, tubbing out the rear, and dropping in a crate motor. I went over there to check out what He had done, and there were a few pieces of the decals on the ground. Low and behold, they were Baldwin Motion decals. For anyone who knows how much money a Baldwon Motion camaro goes for, especially a '79 year, you would understand how it would make one furious. IF he would have taken the car to an auction and sold it, he would have had enough money to buy a house and another second gen to drop his crate motor in.

Back to this talon, if it gets assessed and there are Any boltons that have different serial numbers, it will drop the value. The assessor will find out, example, that "that's turbo does not match the numbers. You don't have a numbers matching car", and the car will drop value.

But I guess this is just the way I feel about it since I've been around collector cars a while.

thats pretty clean.. U know, i would acctually mod it... cause i believe in enjoying the car, not letting it sit in the garage. if u do mod it, put name brand parts on it, and dont take the cheap route! bad ass car though.

i can't believe your friend did that, utterly insane. but that's the same thing i fear with this car. as one person mentioned there's already an aftermarket fuse box on the firewall that appears to be part of a subwoofer setup or something. hopefully the car has some sort of amplifier stock otherwise all that wire running and (god forbid) firewall drilling has probably seriously hurt its price already. god if i had $10,000 i'd snag that car in a heartbeat just to make sure it gets taken car of, but my girlfriend would absolutely kill me for it if i did.

i wouldn't mod it or anything, and rarly drive it, because like somone posted above, what if you got in an accident or it was stolen or something stupid happend like it got keyed or something, anything like that would just set you off, and it would ruin the originality of it. If there's only one take care of it and don't mess it up.
Very very nice car BTW ;)
