Sweet car, that is really clean for having 40K miles on it. I'd say garage it, get a non-op title and don't drive it, especially since you're 16 and just got your license. Not to be stereotypical or anything but I was 16 a couple years ago and looking back I would not have trusted myself with such a rare car as that one. Preserve its value. :thumb:

i dont know about 50 grand. its not like the first talon ever, just a prototype of a special edition. and being a special edition it shouldnt be stock right. they should have changed some things besides the body kit. im not saying its not real but is there anything different than a normal dsm. ( considering you are familiar with dsms.) is it a stick? what year is it? does it have any badges on it?

It said in the link LRTDWIA844 (whatever) posted that it was a 93. About the badges, he said it had the fittipaldi badges on the seats and the steering wheel. Just gotta wait for pics tomorrow...

To me it looks more like the Laser than a Talon, but it's sexy as hell, that's for sure.

its a 90, i looked a t the link after i posted. i wonder if it was made before the cars came out yet. fit- is there a white sticker on the door jam that says the manufacture date?

yeah but its not like in 20 years its gonna be in Barett-Jackson or something, so why not get as much fun out of it now as you can. its a car, cars were meant to be driven. drive it. if it was meant for you to sit in a couch and stare at, it would come with a tv and some beer.

however, do not mod it in any way, keep that sucker STOCK as can be. you want to mod something, get another 1st gen. do all the maintenance on her, and maybe dont drive her in the rain or such, just when its sunny and you just have short distances. what you have my freind is history that none of us want to hear has been destroyed.

that is all i have to say.

I'm starting to think your dad should lock it away from you for another 5 years.

This is all my opinion, so don't view this as a flame.. But...i agree with stapl3

I agree. Being 16, you're going to want to do alot of things in that car that are stupid. We all have, and if you deny that, than you're in denial. ;) The more miles that are on it, the more it will go down in value. I've been in the collector car scene a while, and daily driving a collector car like that drops the value quite a bit. Collector cars like that were created for a reason: to be a Collector's item. For people who collect them like hotwheels cars. It would be like taking a mint 1970's hotwheel car out of the package, playing with it, then trying to sell it. When you're older and the car is probably either wrecked or in bad shape, you're gonna look back and kick yourself in the ass. I had a NICE azz car for my first car (i got lucky) when I was 16, and I did the normal teenager thing and hotrod it and tear it up. I could have killed myself for doing that.
Yeah, someone else said it earlier. Don't drive it in the rain. Don't put many miles on it either. Keep it in as good of shape as you can (door dings, interior tears, etc). I'm not trying to tell you how to drive your car, but like i said, I've been in the collector car scene for quite a while and it makes my heart sink when people drive collector cars into the ground. I've also seen many many many first year drivers just turn New Nice cars into junk because they want to show off. My advice: Drive it on occasion, preventing any damage at all (water and mud, dirt) and in 10 years, it will still be a collector car. Otherwise, it will just be some value-less dsm that ends up at the junkyard with nothing special about it.

That's pretty damned slick. Wasn't that Indy the year Emo biffed ...Rutherford?... on the last turn to win? Eat it, Indy "racers", I've won F1. I'll go wheel-to-wheel with your redneck ass. And then he refused the jug of milk for orange juice.

Emerson is one of the Good Ones.

But for god's sake, get that car away from that 16-year-old!!!! :D OMG

That is awesome man. When you see your dad tell him the dsm world thanks him for storing it until now for our viewing pleasure. Somebody like carrol shelby would just put it in his garage and would probably rot there. Please drive it. To store it away again is like trying to hide something thats just too good to be true. So what you store it it will be worth 40k in 20 years but will you be around then. Just enjoy it while you have it. Buy a beater and mod it to hell but just Pimp that whip! Are you open to trades?

300zx meets talon. I like it

A buddy of mine sent me this link earlier, and I didn't really see it. I'm pretty effin drunk right now, and looking at the pics again, I don't understand HOW I missed it.

Slightly OT, but years ago when my parents were searching for a 2nd car, I remember ogling the 2ga's when they first came out. I tried my damndest to talk them into getting one, but they weren't keen on them...my dad didn't like the weakness of the NT's, my mom wanted a convertible but didn't want to spend a ton of money. I drooled over the 2G's for years, and ended up buying the car they ended up getting off of them when I turned 17, and then a couple months ago traded it in on my 95 GS-T with 40K original miles. I thought that was a little ironic how that worked out.

But anyway, the thought that brought that rant to mind was that even though 2G's are my FAVORITE car in existence visually, there are 2 things I would trade my 2G for in a heartbeat: the white 1G someone posted with a 2Gb bumper molded onto it, and this. This is a seriously sexy car, pleae take care of it.

its nuts im not into wings or bodykits that much. But everything on this car seems to mesh so well. To me the rear was always tame but that wing made it a little more sporty exotic in a cool type of way.

i just looked in my car and i dunno if this means anything, but my speedometer only shows 140 written, it doesnt have 145 written. i guess thats different

On 90's the speedometer came in 5 mile increments. A lot of gauge faces were created from the 1990 cars which is why the majority of gauge faces are in 5 mile increments :thumb:

I'd also like to see some interior shots and more exterior shots, especially of the rear!

Thanks for posting this up!

Whats the percentage of kids who wreck there first car ? Im 16 as well and had my license since January . I havent goten a ticket or got in a wreck . Im just fearing that this will happen to that 1g .

hey man, if i ever see that car in person ill probably mess it up bad, ill have an uncontrollable uge to hump the crap out of it :p its just to damn sexy for me not to

or better yet wanna sell it? ill give u..........

ELEVENTY BILLION DOLLARS!!!!! MUWAHHAHAHA MUWAHAHAHA

def more pics are needed

absolutely gorgeous car. love it, cherish it, and take car of that beautiful car as best you can. obviously by now you know its rarity and the status that us as dsm'ers bestow upon it since our cars are so often overlooked by major manufacturers even though they're some of the most potent cars on the streets for the dollar. to see that emo got in on the design of one of these cars and to have it actually re-surface in private hands is extremely rare and special.

oh and i don't think it will work quite the same but at this year's Kruse auction the #1of 1 68' camaro z28 convertible recieved a bid of over a million dollars before the guy decided not to sell the vehicle. (unfortunately some asshole stole a briefcase with all the original documents, keys, and title work to the vehicle so its value may be less than 1 million now)

oh and i was looking, can we see a picture of the rear of the car, me and my friends at work are trying to see how the hatch opens up with the wing that car has. also i'd like to see the rear bumper styling.

yeah, MORE PICS!

Thats awesome man, congrats on having the most historic DSM on this board that I can think of. Lets start a dsm museum - maybe at the normal factory when/if it closes down. :(  How sad to think. I wouldnt feel so bad if we could turn it into a museum. :)

Yeah, but more pics. We are all curious.

about the whole crash thing, last year it was raining and i was with my older brother (he was 16 at the time) we ended up hydroplaning and nailed a tree head on going 45 ish he was perfectly fine... i snapped my femur(thigh bone-one of the hardest bones to break) and screwed up my knee... i was laying in the hospital for about 2-2and a half weeks doing nothing... i was in rehab for like 6 months and i just got the rod and pins out of my leg I know what to be careful for and ill be less likely to get in a crash

about pictures... i will take a picture of interior... i will take picture of engine... but about the back rear fin.... idk i dont want anybody copying the wing and every thing so i am not going to take a picture atleast for now...

im going to go eat some breakfast and do some armor alling LOL

My name is John...LOL

It says "condition 93" it must be how they grade the car not the year it was made.

trust me i don't think anybody here is going to freehand a wing like that, not to mention the fact that i personally prefer the one i have over it anyways. i do understand though if you don't want to because of it's rarity though, but could you explain how it opens? is it actually a 3 piece wing like this one where the main hoop is attached to the hatch?

yeah its a 3 peice, but the way its molded you can barely tell... here are the seat pics and of the engine....
