Hey guys, my slim fan on the driver side of the car melted off today, I know it was over 90% but I didn't think that should matter? Could it be because I don;t have the heat shield over the exhaust mani? If so i'll just get a new one and put a cover on.

We've been through 3 or 4 slim fans before I got a heat shield that goes in front of the turbo. Need to replace the one that's up there now as it was on there before the heat shield and she's gotten a little hot also. But I did notice that since the new heat shield has been put on, it hasn't melted any farther, so that's promising.

Heat shields do more than people think, LOL. In terms of how much heat they deflect that is. The heat transfer coefficient of metal if far greater than air. Anyway if you can I would put it back on or get some heat wrap tape. And on a hot day run it to get it up to temp and check how hot is getting in there. Hows the coolant level in the car? Sometimes it takes some burping to get it completely full.

The coolant level is perfect currently.. I found an exhaust manifold blanket but it was like 100 bucks.
