Omg! mitsu mighty max

I realized that the 89 Mighty Max truck was made in a 2.0L model. My question is, will that RWD truck tranny bolt up to a 4G63 motor??? That would open up a whole new door to Mitzubishi drifting... please give me your imput, thanks

It sure will! But you will also have to convert it to turbo DSM harness, change the fuel system and add I/C plumbing.

When you are done with all that, you still have a tranny that can't handle much more than around 250hp .

Different bellhousing, check the lower bolt holes first. Looks like you will have to build a turbo 2.4 motor instead, too bad huh.

‘89 5sp Mighty Max bell housing has IDENTICAL bolt pattern to DSM tranny. Check out this photo (this is ’89 MM tranny):

I know that it is not bolted-up in the photo, but let me assure you they can bolt-up. I have done it several times when fitting that motor/tranny assy in the TR7. …

No problem. GRNDSM might be right. This link shows two 89 Mighty Max trans. One 12 1/4 and the other 13 1/4 bellhousings. You want the 12 1/4 version.

The "wide" 4G63 motor came only with ultra rare automatic tranny (good luck finding one ). But that motor should bolt-up to a very good Starion tranny (as well as many other Toyota and Mazda RWD trannys).

So it is a gem in its own right.

Did I mention that I picked-up automatic ’88 Mighty Max a couple of month ago, because I just could not let it slip by? I do not really have an immediate use for it but I wanted to grab that rare motor and tranny.

Yes, 1G DSM engines should fit. 2G's might not have needed motor mount features (not that you would want to use a 2G motor ).

hey guys, here's a newbie question for you...does anyone have any info for the 4G63-T motor-swap into a mitsu mighty max? im just trying to figure out which engine and tranny to use, and just some other general info. if i can find enough info i might pick up a 91 mighty max this weekend in mint condition so any help will be greatly appreciated...thanks

There is a guy on there with mighty-max with 4G63. Damn thing is absolutely cool. Fast as hell and super-fun in dirt.

that would be greg plebani i believe... and its a rather simple swap i have heard, you use the trucks stock tranny and the 4g63 (prob want and early 6 bolt ) and ecu

Is that intake manifold off of a MM 2.0 non turbo engine, because i see that the hole for the throttle body is on the opposite side. ??

That looks like a regular DSM intake manifold a TB flange welded on the on the other side. I have seen several people do that.

Mighty Max does not use our type of injection and the head is very different, so you can not use their manifold.
