I have been looking for this answer all on line and throughout the Forms I know there are 2 oil-temp sensors. But when i had my swap put in the guy is telling me all i have is the oil pressure sensor not the waring sensor. IS this true cause i find it hard to believe there is only one sensor. But maybe i am wrong and different 4g63 motors(meaning the earliest) might have one is this guy bulls****** me or he's right cause my check engine is on and my OB2 tells me the sensor isn't connected. Please fill me in thanks Rich

so this dumb ass was lying to me so there should be a 2nd sensor cause he told me all i had was a oil pressure sensor and my check engine light keeps comming on and the code tells me oil sensor bank 2

On the filter housing, the big one that points to the ground is the pressure sensor for the stock gauge. The one that points forward is the idiot light.

alright so when i go back to the shop today i will check to see if there are 2 mounted one in the front of the oil filter housing and the other on the side. cause i get oil pressure, but the check engine light is on. damn if i could remove the wire from the ecu for the sensor i would if i could. thanks:thumb:

Well, if you have a CEL that's reading an oil pressure code, then one would have to assume that either A) Your idiot light sensor is faulty (that is, if you indeed have oil pressure), or B) It's possibly unplugged.

When I bought my 2g, I didn't have either one (can you believe that!?!?!) and I never once got a CEL, so I'm willing to bet that your sensor is bad. At the same time, I can't figure out why the guy at the shop would tell you it's not there if it is bad. Either way... it's definitely NOT an oil TEMP sensor.

Yea that was is bank 1 sorry about that. I am going to the shop tomorrow so i can put it on the lift and check it out myself. Damn can trust mechanics these days:beatentodeath: you just have to do it yourself

True that!

I think you may have misunderstood us though. Reffering to a bank 1 or 2 is usually used in referance to an O2 sensor. Bank 1 refers to the #1 firing cylinder in that line of engine cylinders. Bank 2 would refer to the #2 overall firing cylinder in the second line of engine cylinders (the first firing cylinder for that row of cylinders). So... for example a V style engine (V6, V8) would have the pass. side of cylinders as bank 1 and the drivers side as bank 2. Each side would have it's own O2 sensor. Since our cars are an inline 4, there is only one "bank". You'll never throw a CEL that reads for a bank 2 on our cars.

I guess in all of this I'm hoping to explain that when referring to oil pressure or temp (or any other) sensor, other then an O2 sensor, that reffering to which "bank" it is is completely irrelevant and wrong.

An oil PRESSURE sensor is an oil PRESSURE sensor and an oil TEMP sensor is an oil TEMP sensor. There are no banks when referring to these sensors.

P.S. Our cars DO NOT come with oil TEMP sensors from the factory and are not monitored by the ECU.

No i understand the what you mean about the bank. but on my ob2 reader thats what pops up but you know what let me make sure i will get the # code and post it. I had a misfire code with my old engine and i ended up blowing a valve which sucked but thats another story.

Sh** i have 3 codes that pop up. P0420 catalyst Below Threshold, P0130 O2 Sensor Malfunction and P0135 O2 Sensor Heater. What the hell is this. Oh My God:cry::cry:

Well this morning i turned my car on and the check engine light was gone. i guess because i was running real rich a few days ago it threw off the o2 sensor and thats why the cell came up. cause its gone now and i fixed the problem with being rich. hopefully it was just something minor that caused the check engine to pop up like running rich. anyway i will keep you guys posted thanks again.

I know that on a stock 2G, there are 2 sensors for oil pressure (which was answered). One is for the gauge (which doesn't work so well) and the other is for the idiot light. When you do a 6bolt swap, you no longer have the ability to hook up both on a stock turbo. When asked which one I wanted connected, I said keep the idiot light and dump the pressure gauge. They said later on when I upgrade to a different turbo, then I'll be able to hook it up but by then I should have an aftermarket gauge for oil pressure. Can anyone corroborate this?
