Ok people.... for a week I had my car down. I end up droping the oil pan and put in a new crank shaft with new bearings. :thumb: . Got everything back together.... started her up and blam! It cut off.... with a weird noise. I tried it again... and it started up and stayed running this time.... I lift the hood up to go check the engine.... there is oil on top of my engine and the hood? I don't know where it came from... everything looks to be intact. No loose lines? WTF? I cut the car off because I didn't know if something mess up.

Can somebody tell me what could have happen and what should I look for?

Car is a 95 AWD 7 bolt.

I will look on the site to read about crankwalk and how to test for it... Seems I have had nothing but crank problems with this car...

It could be from your pcv valve not closing when in boost and therefore causing your dipstick to pop out and spray oil everywhere. You can take out the pcv valve from the back of the valve cover and see if it is checking off the air from the manifold. It should allow air to flow from the valve cover to the intake manifold, but not from the intake manifold back to the valve cover.

The best way to solve the problem is to add a check valve like this. 3/8" Kynar® Standard Check Valves | U.S. Plastic Corp.

And here is a great read on the pcv system.:thumb: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/366890-4g63t-pcv-system.html

Its popping out for a reason. Its better to find the real problem inatead of using a band-aid.

I agree with you !!!
He does need to fix the root of the problem first.

My suggestion was just an added help.
After all, STM created that product for a reason.

Thanks guys.... I just got the balls to start it up again. My Wife started the car while I looked at the dip stick to see if it move or pop out.

I didn't pop out but it did move... tested another start and it seems get pushed up. But not completely out. Does this sound like a PCV problem after reading? After really thinking about if the dipstick was out when this first happen.... only "God" knows... I kinda panic and grab the dipstick to check the oil. I actually took the car around the corner.... oil presure seems ok.. but since some oil came out.... I'm going to buy some oil and change it to be safe on quarts.

Sounds like it could be blow-by. A leakdown test will verify or debunk this.

Yes it does and yes a leakdown test would be very helpful. If you are getting the dipstick to pop up by just revving the engine, that points toward blow-by. But, if it pops out during boost, that usually points toward the pcv valve.;)

No matter what the cause is you find (obviously one being cheaper than the other) be sure to get it fixed. Dont band-aid this problem.

I will give you one guess of the #1 reason for engine fires in our cars...(One hint: the oil dipstick is really close to the HOT turbo and exhaust manifold.)

Be happy you caught it, and fix it right.

Why did you have to change the crank.:hmm:

Well.... I have some previous topics about the crank.... My first post was about two years ago when I first got the car. The guy sold it to me with loose flywheels which I drove it about 100 miles home on. So when I took the tranny down... all the flywheel bolts fell off.... after I bought some more flywheel bolts, I notice one of the holes in the crank was striped. I tap with a half size up bolt. And drove it since until last week I heard a rattling sound around the transmission area. So once the transmission came down... that same bolt came out. LOL. So I end up buying a new crankshaft with bearing. I'm not sure if the crank is walking a little since I had the car. I don't know what could have happen as far as all the flywheel bolt loose at time of purchase. So I went with a new crankshaft.

I am talking about "Got everything back together...... started her up and blam! It cut off with a weird noise." I think you may have to look somewhere else the dipstick problem is important but you should be worry about the noise also, although I hope it is your dipstick.

LOL Wow, how many flywheels were on the car.LOL

LOL... sorry. I was doing a couple other things when type that post. I was going for "Flywheel bolts".

No problems the past two days. No noise. No Dip stick popping out or even no motion. I had a macanic check out the PVC for me.... he said it seems to be working correctly. I even smoked a 2011 mustang tonight. LOL...thanks everyone for the info.
