One hole on my oil pan for the return line is stripped. I've thought about trying to rethread the hole with a tapper but I don't want to make a worse job out of everything. I've looked at how the hole is stripped and found that the bolt still threads untill there is force applied. The bolt will thread through and then pop back out one notch when it starts to tighten up. I'm just wondering if I could use some type of threading tape that might thicken up the bolt so it could fit into the somewhat stripped threads on the oil pan. Is it possible? If not, what's the best way to fix something like this other than replacing the oil pan or rethreading the hole.
