So went to look at a 96 awd today.....and noticed when ideling the oil pressure was low.......now searching I found out this is normal for these cars. Since the oil pump is driven by an accessory belt then the gauge would rise while reving the car in neutral since operating the engine at higher speed runs the oil pump faster. Correct?
What drives the accessory belt? Also why would there be oil on the engine block and alot of the accessories around it........but not smelling buring oil under the hood? What could be leaking? The engine was replaced after the original spun a rod bearing and a junkyard one was dropped in. Pics below....
