just installed my 14b today, everything went good till i found out that the oil lines use brake fittings and the head oil feed is a metric size and blah blah blah it's all working but when i fired up the car after priming the turbo i notice my oil pressure gauge (stock) was perfect, needle right in the middle. as i started driving it was all good but on my way back home i noticed the needle just dropped. I pulled into my driveway, turned it off but didn't see any leaks or anything. I thought it might have been a fluke so i started the car again and now the oil pressure gauge is barely up, i tapped the gas and it moved up to about 1/4 way and was steady.

should i be worried? i thinking it's my oil pressure sensor but i cant be too sure.

any insight is greatly appreciated, it's my DD and it's been out of commission for the last week.

im about to buy an oil pressure gauge in a day or two just to make sure i can get an accurate reading. do you know if the sending unit is internal or external?

That I do not know..

You would think I knew that, but we all have alot of stuff to learn..

If your getting a new gauge for it..Install that and see what happens..But if you drive your car on the daily just be careful..

yea, my school is a mile away, my work is 1/2 a mile. i should be fine, i dont beat on it or anything.

could it have anything to do with blocking off the original turbo oil feed line and running that line from the head?

MHI turbo's like being fed from the head, rather than the filter housing..So that could be why it's not going as high as it normally would..The head feed supplies less oil pressure than the OFH..

The sending unit is a piece that screws into the oil filter housing pointing toward the rear of the car. I ripped my wiring off one time when I ran a cone over and my pressure showed zero. You might check the connection and clean it. If you have to change it, it is easy, just unscrew it and put the new one in. That's good that you are getting a gauge to double check. There is an allen head bolt to take out on 1Gs by the turbo oil feed line that is easy to hook a gauge to.

ok, that should be easy enough. i drove to school today and didn't notice anything bad, oil pressure read perfect, just where it should be, only thing i noticed was that it fluctuated a little bit. would drop below the center line a tad then go up a tad but i didn't see it fully drop like it did last time.

Food for Thought - The "line" You're referring to will only show with the needle above it at moderate RPMs. At idle and low RPMs the needle will usually rest below it as well as fluctuate with RPM range.

just get an autozone oil pressure test kit. for piece of mind if you are really worried. you will see that the factory unit isnt as instantaneous as you immagine. It does fluctuate w/ rpms the more crazy you drivfe, the higher the pressure, the more you idle and decel, the lower. it should slowly move from the lowest line, to bit above the halfway point, in no particular pattern, just relative to how much the oil is being pumped through (by the oil pump, operated commonly by timing components or crank shaft, hence rpm fluctuation) and temperature, cloder oil= thicker, thicker= harder to move = more pressure when moving.

so what im seeing sounds normal to everyone else? if so i guess my question is answered. thanks everyone!
