Ok, my valve cover gasket was leaking and i've noticed that some has gotten into the cam cover and on the timing belt and im afraid of it skipping. I just replaced the timing belt and really don't want to do it again. Is there any way to clean it/spray it with something like carb cleaner to get the oil off without ruining the belt?

Thanks

hey man u can use CNC brake cleaner on your belt. It will disolve all the grease and air drive itself. or you can just get some soappy water to get it off. But other than that its being held supper tight its hard for it to slip in the firstplace.

I would not clean my timing belt with Brake clean it dry's the rubber out.

If that oil is on there to long it will make it all nasty and break teeth off. Thats what happened to me, had some oil leak right there, got onto the belt got it all nice and oily chipped some teeth off and one night it slipped three teeth. Whatever you do, do it fast it will slip so good luck to ya. :)

i'll probably just use some soapy water cuz i recently replaced the head and i really don't feel like doing that again. Thanks for the replies guys
