Hey guys,
I just got finished with my build. When we started it up, there was an oil leak behind the timing cover. We pulled it off and low-and-behold we had missed putting back in the cover that seals the stubby shaft bolt.
My question is my Greddy Timing belt got covered in oil. not a large amount, but covered none the less. Is this going to be safe to reinstall or should I just wait and get a new one? If it is safe to clean up and reinstall, what should I use to clean it that wont damage it?

Thanks guys.

You will be fine, as long as you pay attention for cracking / wear marks other then the typical striping from the cam gears, just as was mentioned above.

A good friend of mine with a Galant VR4 had the same issue when he built his motor. He simply cleaned it, dried it, and it has been working like normal so far, with 500+miles at 350whp.
