So oil light is on and car wont start. I had took it to a mechanic and dude Diagnosed the car when it was having problems starting. He told me that My throttle position sensor, crank position sensor, and camshaft sensors were faulty. I replaced em still no start. I had replaced the oil and filter too when it first came on.

Can't figure out why the oil light is on, its never been on.

What exactly does it do when you try to start it? I had to resurrect my car after it stopped working for my brother and sat for 2 years. I may be of some assistance. As for the oil light, I have no clue. I'll go check google to see if there's some sort of oil sensor.

Got this from a post by a mitsu mechanic.

"Oil pressure warning light sending units go bad all the time. They usually have an oil leak where the metal and plastic are joined. The part is cheap and takes less than 1/2 hour to install. I would always check the motor oil level as a precaution."

Did you actually change the crank position sensor? I'm sure you had a heck of a time doing that if you did. I had to do that because my timing belt ripped and broke it into pieces. If that's missing, then the car won't start. I think it will still start with the other sensors missing, but not with that one missing.

Its normal for the oil light to be on if your car is not running, you don't have any oil pressure until you start the engine. You need to check for spark and fuel, is the check engine light on?

Thanks for that. LOL. Smarter every day. I'm surprised I didn't notice that while my car wasn't starting. Wouldn't the brake light and every other warning light also be on though?

Thanks I'll look into picking a sensor up. When I start the car it tries to turn over but nothing.

Do you have fuel and spark? Valuable information you need to figure out.

I was told to check that a while back and I did and it was fine. I'll double check again ### I had it sitting for a while.

Check engine light is off.

I'll Check for spark and fuel and also replace the sensor and let you all know what happens.

Check to see if that's what it is first. You don't want to order a new one, get down to it, and the realize that it's not actually the problem. To get to it you have to take off all of the belt and completely take off the water pump tensioner. Then you can take off the pulley at the bottom that turns the alternator and water pump on the crankshaft. There should be 4 bolt. Be very careful when you put them back in. Make sure to tighten them little by little in a star pattern so they're even. I just tightened them one at a time all the way the first time, and it ended up being way off balance. Also notice that there's a small hole in the pulley. There's a small pin that sticks out of the crankshaft sprocket that goes into that hole for whatever reason. Don't be too rough with the pulley if it seems stuck. I used a puller on mine and it broke. I had to pull one from a 97 Galant that had the same one. Once you get that off, You can take off the 2 covers for the timing belt. Be sure to remember which bolts go where. They're different lengths. Once you get both of those off, you'll see something behind the crankshaft sprocket that looks like this 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse Crankshaft Angle Sensor Blade 1840A006 .. If you're looking at that, the position sensor should be near the 2 o'clock position from it. It will have to bolts 10mm bolts holding it on, and it will look like the end of this that has 2 holes in it New Crank Shaft Crankshaft Position Sensor CKP Fit for Mitsubishi Dodge Chrysler | eBay .. If it's broken and you need a new one, make sure it's the right one for your car. I pulled mine from the 97 galant, but the wire wasn't long enough. I had to cut off the sensor end from both cables, and solder it. I hope you have long fingers and skinny arms, or don't mind rerouting the wiring, because this son of a gun is hard to work with. I left it in the car when I soldered it. If you solder it, I would also recommend using heat shrink tubing. It's way easier that electric tape. Keep me updated! Feel free to ask any questions

Oh, and about the car trying to start. When my sensor was messed up, it would still try to start but never turn over.

Yours might be different. My engine is the 2.4L SOHC instead of the 2.0L DOHC

Sorry for the confusion I meant the Oil Pressure sending unit. Since it's cheap I was going to give it a go and replace it. As for the cams I replaced the camshaft position sensor.
