Well, from what started as a normal day of cruising around ended unpleasantly with what looks to be bad news. My car killed at a stoplight for no reason. So i started it back up and started to drive slowly home. I noticed that whenever I got the rpms near 2k or more I heard a decently loud rattling sound coming from aroud the front of the car (I believe). I also noticed that my car was incredibly sluggish for the 3 blocks that i crept it home. When I got home I noticed that I had only around a quart of oil in my car, if that. My Oil drain pipe from my turbo had cracked about halfway and was spraying out oil when i put in new oil and started up the car. :notgood: After filling the car back up with oil. (Took about 3.5 quarts to bring it back up to the full line) I started up the car and looked underneath, observing the oil that dripped out rather quickly. The car sounded very normal at idle. However, when i gave it throttle in neutral, I noticed that around 2krpms and higher I start to hear the rattling sound. Best way to describe it would be similar to that of shaking something around in a metal can:cry:

Anyone have any input on what happened? For now I just ordered a new oil drail line. But I am worried about my engine.

Royal purple advertised a customer's car running down the track ~140+mph with failed oil pump. Ran fine afterwords. ROFL <- just an advertisement from them though.

I was advised to do a compression test by a local mechanic and friend of mine. What i got was basically a straight 158, 158, 158, 158 accross the board.

You can sleep and hope that the head was just deficient in oil causing your lifters to tick as when you install a clean head after a rebuild. When you install the oil line make sure you keep the engine at low rpms for a few minutes so the oil can recirculate through all the moving parts in the head. good luck ! hope there is no damage ! = )

Well, today I fixed all of my leaks, drained my oil again, and replaced it when done, I found no metal shavings in the oil, or the oil filter. When I was done I fired up the car, no sounds were coming from the motor, but a light ticking was coming from near the power steering belt, which squeeled when i started it up, (has happened before too), and when I rev it to about 2k or so it ticks, but it doesnt seem to be from the motor, it sounds like its coming from my belt area still.. Any ideas?

There are no ideas from us that are valid since we can't hear your car or know how bad your oil leak was or know how starved the motor really was or how you drove it.

You said there was no metal shavings in the oil. There's nothing more that can be done other than drive it easy for a while and see where it gets you.

If it's any consolation, I had a crack in my turbo feed line (which sees pressure) and was down to the same amount as yours. I have no issues with my motor.

Tighten your PS belt.

I had an oil pump fail about 3/4 of a mile from home, from the horrendous sounds (think rocks in a blender noises) from the engine I figured it was instantly destroyed, so I went ahead and finished the drive.

No engine damage. The shop that 'scoped it even commented that my 90k mile motor looked better than most of the Evo's that come in with < 10k on them... That was a couple years ago and it's still running strong.

I don't use Royal Purple, just Amsoil. :)
