ok, so I bought this 95 talon turbo and I've been having a problem with oil seemingly being sprayed over the top of the driver side of the engine bay. I just put on a new oem oil cap and it's still building up on the valve cover and getting sprayed on the hood, brake fluid reservoir, timing cover, power steering reservoir, and exhaust manifold. the dipstick handle however is broken off and when I pulled over(cause of smoke bellowing from the hood) the dipstick was sticking out partially. could I be spraying oil out my dipstick tube? or should i double gasket my oil cap? oil cap goes on tight(takes two hands to get it to lock in). any ideas would be helpful

Sounds like your front seal or something off timing belt may be leaking. Do you let your car warm up before getting on it? These cars have really high oil pressure so let it warm up before getting on it. Get on eBay and get you a oem dipstick, it will handle the pressure. Good luck

LOL don't wanna sound dumb but what's blow-by? and I ordered an oem dipstick so we'll see how that works
edit: and yes, I let it warm up. my buddy had a 1g talon way before I got this one and he emphasized the need to let it warm up fully before driving it

Blow-by is when compressed air/fuel mix blows passed the pistons and rings. Not good. Can you get pictures? Sounds like the pulleys/belts are slinging oil around and could be anything behind the timing belt cover.

wow, yeah doesn't sound good at all LOL. but yeah, I'll pull that timing cover off and get some pictures up here shortly

yeah the pcv valve could probably used changed in any matter. I'm not sure how long this baby was sittin before I got it. but I pulled off the timing over and the underside of it is dry so I'm pretty sure the timing belt isn't slinging anything. and there didn't appear to be that much oil down there. I would'a taken pictures but I forgot I cleaned up the mess last night LOL(I was a lil tipsy and bored) but I guess I could pull off the VC and give it a soapy water test. I got a dipstick on order(nearest dealer is two hours away) so it should be here within a week and I'll replace the pcv when I put that dipstick on and hopefully that works. I donno, I might try to induce the leak one more time. in my garage though and see if I can't spot it

I'm thinking my HG or a gasket on the turbo could be blown out. it's fluctuating in RPMs when you apply mild throttle. I tried to get it to leak like it was again but it seems to only wanna do it under load. now instead of high oil pressure I practically have none and the CEL just came on and it's blowin white smoke out the back. smells like a combo of running rich and a lil bit of coolant. It's also smoking from somewhere by the turbo(heat shield is in the way). but that could be cause the previous owner welded a three inch pipe to the stock flange and did a real crappy job too. so it could just be smoking from there.

Sounds like your car just turned into a project. :thumb: Sorry, I'm optimistic, and this provides you the opportunity to go through everything. This way you know your car and if something happens, you will definately have a better understanding. Of coarse this hurts the wallet.

yeah, I'm contemplating just putting a new engine in it.... well not brand new. but newer LOL I found one a couple hours away with 50k on it and the dudes willing to deliver. so that might be the better route. but then again I could end up with another lemon :banghead: which would make me wanna strangle somebody haha

Hey bro it's me, yeah a compression test can help see if your head gasket is sealing up.

Just stick it out and if you do all of the work yourself, it shouldn't cost too awful much to get the thing in driving conditions! I know these things are a pain in the ass trust me I am almost wanting to sell it and buy a rex or a evo. But for some reason I just keep spending the money on it !

yeah, I refuse to give up. at this point it's personal LOL my dad doesn't think I can do it so I gotta prove him wrong
