i have a 96 eagle talon tsi with a 2.0 turbo engine "4g63t" fwd manual transmission. my question is i have a serious oil leak 1 quart to 2 quart a day i have been under it several times to see where it is coming from with no answer except seeing the transmission is covered in oil and seeing a little coming from the turbo drain pipe where it connects to the oil pan so i know that gasket needs to be replaced but it still dont seem like a big enough leak to justify the amount lost in one day so i am wondering is it possible for the oil to be leaking into my transmission and blowing out the little air vents on the transmission?? the car runs fine, does not show signs of something major wrong just the big oil spot on the ground and the transmission being covered in oil. no blue smoke to think it is a head gasket problem and everything else runs great soon as i put more oil in, the pressure jumps back up till the oil leaks out.. im tired of buying oil and want it fixed but i just cant find where the leak is. any help would be appreciated..

No the oil isn't leaking into the transmission. IF it's leaking that bad than it's probably coming from the drain as suggested already.

If you are having a hard time locating it, get UV dye for the oil system, let it cycle through and then check to see where it's coming out from with a black light. Be sure to clean everything up prior to do the test.

So there is no way for like a seal to be leaking into the transmission? i know there is no problem with the clutch or transmission no slippage or grinding like i said everything runs fine i just don't see no major drips besides the small one coming from the turbo drain pipe and i have sat there and stared at it for at least 30 minutes and don't see oil trickling out fast but there is definitely a little leak there..

If you want to feel comfortable, take the inspection plate cover off the the transmission located on the back of it towards the block.

Well to keep this simle it could be a small leak but a leak, so if you have to take it off and check the flex, it can crack, and you may not be able to see it on the car.

No, as i already said it isn't leaking into the transmission, it can't leak in to the transmission.

Thank you guys so much for your help i don't know why i didn't think about running the car while looking soon as i started the car and got under it, the oil started pushing quicker out the turbo drain pipe where it connects to the oil pan so i am guessing the gasket is shot. Thank god it isn't a seal like i was scared of. Thank you fellow dsmers for the help. I will pick up a new drain pipe and gasket tomorrow and hope the leak is fixed and go from there.. Ill still get it all cleaned up and do a UV test just to make sure.. thanks again all.. i will report back when i get some more figured out DSM for LIFE!!

ok guys i looked it all over again.. yes the leak from the down pipe is bad but not the worst. there is another leak higher up on the engine but i cant find it. only place i could see that might be it, is a what looks to be a banjo bolt fitting on a small metal hose going from the block behind the turbo to what i believe i have traced back to the oil filter housing. do any of you know if this is a oil line and are they notorious for leaking? the entire engine is soaked in oil and that's the only thing i can think of leaking in that area. i have included a couple of pictures one of the banjo bolt area and one of the drain pipe.

ok i found the line and banjo bolt online to replace the entire section with pressure washers so quick question how do i figure out what turbo i have to select the correct oil line for my car :-? http://www.cimotorsports.net/motor-sport-products/mitsubishi-eclipsetalon-2g-oil-feed-line-kit.html

Another question.. i know how banjo bolts are after sitting in something for a long time seeing as i have snapped a few break line banjo bolts what is the best way to losen one out with out breaking it off in the block?? i know its a dumb question but i am kinda a newbie to engine work but need to learn , i cant see paying someone hundreds of dollars to do something i am capable of doing with a little knowledge..

Snap a pic of your turbo's compressor housing and we should be able to tell you. Stock turbo on your car is a T25. The 14b (stock 1G turbo), 16g, and 20g all use the same lines. The oil line fittings are slightly different on the 14b than it is on the T25.

here are the pics.. best i could get with the heat shield over the exhaust any help on what type of turbo would be greatly appreciated.
