Okay, I just rebuilt the motor and have it completely installed. Drove it to break it in and got back to the house and seen a leak. The leak is coming from the bed pan right above from the oil filter.

Any ideas of how I can go about fixing this with out having to take the bed pan off. Because I really don't want to have to pull the transmission and replace the rear main seal.

Here is where it is leaking from.

What you are pointing at is not the rear main seal. That is the bedplate o-ring for the oil pump pick-up.

(insert sad face here if that's the seal that's leaking)

Funny thing on that seal. There are many who have pinched that o-ring or even left it off. I always wondered how that could happen. I've never done it on countless rebuilds until.......yeah, I just did it on my most recent refresh of my 12.5 comp engine, LOL. Pinched the seal and didn't notice it until she was in and running.

Its sad because there is no other way to fix it but to pull the bedplate back off (with all the fun that goes along with that). You're in a postion where you need to pull the engine and take the bedplate back off. (again insert sadface).

Yeah I know it isn't the rear main seal. But in order to take the bed plate off the transmission is going to have to be pulled. Then with the bed plate off the rear main seal is no longer going to be good. So there for I am going to have to replace it.

I was trying to see what idea's I can come up with to temporary stop the leak till I can set a weekend off to fix it properly.

Like maybe smear some kind of high temp. gasket sealer or something like that its not that big of a crack that it is coming from and its not squirting out just slowly oozing out.

^No, RTV works. However, i DONOT agree with using it. It is leaking because of the seal he has circled for the reasons MB explained.

For a stock rebuilt RTV is fine in a pinch, but just to clear it up, RTV isnt the reason its leaking.

PS. I didnt see anywhere him mentioning the use of RTV. the red stuff in the pic is Anerobic sealant.
