whole back side of motors is wet with oil. i pulled out my spark plugs and noticed a lot of oil on the plug boot. the far left cylinder, i think 4 had a lot in it. wondering if its the valve cover gasket or the head gasket. any help would be appreciated. im still kinda new to all this stuff.

With oil in the spark plug wells your valve cover gasket is the likely culprit. Get the full gasket set (which includes spark plug well gaskets), install them, clean up the back of the block and keep your eye out for future leaks. Fix the cheap and easy stuff first.

Yep i would get the full set of gaskets. also when you are changing the gaskets check and see if the bolts worked loose. i have seen that happen before.

Have you owned the car from day one ? if not make sure someone hasn't over tighten the cover bolts and stripped them out.

Oh yeah get some black rtv. you will need to dab a little on each of the spark plug hole gaskets to keep them in place when putting the cover back on. also when you pull the cover gasket off you will notice some spots that have some old black rtv. clean those areas the best you can and then put some fresh stuff on it. :thumb:

Sounds like a valve cover gasket....but please clean the entire block, wipe it down clean and make sure its not coming out anywhere else behind the block....make sure nothing is leaking out of the oil pressue sending unit, or the headgasket area behind the block.....the oil in the spark plugs is a dead give a way that its the valve cover gasket...but you really need to verify its the only leak.

wow, thanks man, you were a great help. im ###### gonna stop at the store tonite and get a gasket kit.
