today my dipstick popped out while I was tuning and running it a little hard ,then when I got home I popped the hood and there was oil all over the place ,that came from the dipstick .there doesn,t seem to be any crankcase pressure ,even when reving it high . cleaned it all up went for another run pushed on it , came back and didn,t do it this time .:confused:
 
I have heard both on this bad rings or a good strong bottom end. Do a compression check and if it works out good. If it has good numbers;just squeeze in the metal tube the dipstick is in and make it a tight fit.
 
also make sure the rubber on the stick is not worn. might be time for a new stick or if your really cheap some tape! ive had dsms with perfect compression that would blow the stick out! how much boost are u running? but yeah, the compression test never lies, almost as interesting as taking it to the track!
 
If you find you definitely do not have crankcase pressure then you can strap down the dipstick. Personally I would never let my dipstick be the alarm for that anyway since I don't like oil fires in my engine bay.

There are many ways to do it, but I personally put a small hose clamp around the metal tube to use as a catch, then loop a zip tie through the dip stick handle that is looped just large enough to slide over the screw of the hose clamp. Dirt cheap and works well.
 
Why else would a dipsitck pop out besides blowby or excessive crankcase pressure? He said that this happened when he was running it hard (boost is up aka more cankcase pressure). I would check your PCV valve to see if that's leaking. Is your PCV and other breather on your valve cover hooked up like stock?

More boost than stock usually means having to open up the PCV system a little more (not always).

Fix it corretly, not by masking the problem. Oil on the hot manifold, o2 housing and turbo is a no-no as well.
