does a KnN oil filter really make a difference or should i just get a fram or generic kind.

90% of oil filters have those "drain back" valves...even Fram. I went from a crappy Fram (no dont get Fram) to a NAPA Gold. The NAPA filters are made by Wix, same people that make the OEM filters. The Wix made my lifter tick go away. Cant remember how much $$ though.

Yep napa gold and K&N are both good, but K&N gets pricey.

Then again if I'm spending over 5bux a quart for oil what's acouple more bucks for a filter?

Wix is good, OEM is good, AC delco is good, you know K&N is good, but NO FRAM!!! Stay away!!!

BTW I have also heard (on this forum) that wix makes mitsu OEM filters...oh well they are still good whoever makes em (man that would suck if they were really frams...)

No more is "wrong" with Fram filters than is wrong with Pennzoil motor oil. Despite this thorough and fascinating study:

It's only as good as the day it was done, and on the specific batch that was tested. Brands and contents switch around with every corporated bid, just as the gasoline you bought at the Standard station came from the Exxon, Union, Shell or Standard refinery depending on which broker set up that day's pickups and deliveries.

In my thousands of car close encounters, I've heard of two filter "failures": one was on an acquaintance's Mangusta when a jammed bypass blew the Autolite off the 351, and the other was a fellow mechanic using the wrong filter on a Civic. Neither was the fault of the filter.

Ah, but they're still selling Tornados, SLIK, and magnets for the gas lines. So reality doesn't always enter into it that much.

ummm fram filters suck, they use way to much glue, and their end plates are made of CARDBOARD PAPER!!! do you want particles to clog your oil passages? that and their filter medium just plain sucks regardless...

ok then.

purolator pure one filters are pretty good, but have tons of pleats, which could restrict flow, dunno if it does, but i imagine its important on a 4g63...
