Oil Feed from Head Banjo-Bolt

Hey guys. I am in the middle of installing a 14B on my 2G. T25 finally took a poop. I had a 14B, all lines, J-Pipe, etc for the install EXCEPT the banjo-bolt for the oil feed from the head.

I didn't think it would be a big deal when I started the install. Figured I'd just grab one from the parts store. Turns out, NOBODY CARRIES THEM! And I gotta work tomorrow. This is the only thing holding be back.

On my T25, I used a brake line to feed from the OFH. Is there any other method other than using a banjo bolt? Like something I could use from the parts store? AN fittings/lines? Has to be cheap though.

The local hardware store is closed on Sundays, and they don't carry ANYTHING metric anyway.

AN and cheap dont go together. AN is ridiculous more expensive then running barb fittigns with hosing.

10mm x 1.25mm : Fits 1990-1994 DSM Turbo oil feed line to head

You can get a 10mm x 1.25mm to -4AN for a feed line. Make sure you get a new crush washer since its not a tapered thread. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RUS-670400/?rtype=10

I get my fitting from Oriellys...they have them in the back not in the front of the store.if you ask them they pull a huge box from the back...i get them there all the time when i do a dsm turbo install

Oreillies doesn't carry m10x1.25 banjo bolts, they to have a m10x1.0 but not the 1.25 thread. You can get them from motorcycle shops though. Most bikes use the m10x1.25 for the brake line to master cylinder.
 
Get your ss line from a vendor extreme psi has a nice kit you may have to wait for shipping but it comes fast depending on which state you live in, ive been using them for years, nice piece pick one up make sure you get it for the ofh and not the head if you get one.
 
Follow above, in addition since its a MHI turbo, look into proper oil pressure for your turbo since its being fed from a new source.

What is the thread for the turbo side of the feed line on a 14b?

EDIT: Found the thread size. M12 X 1.25.

Found a SS Line I had laying around.

Tomorrow after work, I am going to stop at Lowes and get a fitting that will screw into the turbo, have a 90* elbow, then accept the SS line on the other end. Similar to the fitting with the 90* elbow on our OFH's, but smaller end so it will thread into the turbo.

I am not sure if feeding from the OFH with a 14B is good or bad, but this is the easier route for me since I can't find a banjo bolt.

I DO have balance shafts still so my oil pressure shouldn't be much different than what it is at the feed from the head.

Get another new piece of 1/4" brake line, hook it to the T25's filter housing fitting. Bend it toward the turbo in a neat manner, then cut it off a little away from the turbo. Take the 14B's factory feed line and cut it on a straight section a few inches away from the turbo. Bend the lines toward each other, and buy a 1/4" compression union at your local parts store and connect the two lines.

Done.



I'm sure you're aware to only do the cutting with a tubing cutter so there are no metal shavings. Also, the T25 fitting that is in your filter housing has a restrictor, and so does the banjo end of the 14B line you'll be using. It will be basically impossible to over-oil the turbo from the filter housing with this setup.

Wouldn't it be easier to run my SS braided line from the OFH to the turbo if I get a fitting that will go into the turbo, have a 90* elbow, then accept the SS line?
 
Sure, but you're still lacking the fittings you need, and if you do that the line wouldn't have a restrictor...and I was under the impression you wanted to get this done ASAP with parts that were readily available at a parts store. Good luck finding 4AN x 3/8" BSP & 4AN x 12mm 1.25 fittings at a local parts store.

Going to Lowe's tomorrow and getting something like the 90* fitting on the OFH. Except with M12 X 1.5 thread pitch so it will screw into the turbo.

Or is that not easy to come by?

You will not find anything that you need at lowes, home depot or any hardware store. Everything they carry will be national pipe thread. Try a machine shop or a performance shop.
 
I used the braided line for my pte from extremepsi. Good deal, fast shipping and works great from OFH.

But, if you absolutely MUST have the car asap, then put the "blown" t25 back on and wire the WG open. It wont be the strongest LOL, but im sure itll buy you time til you get a braided line for a 14b.

So i cut the 2g feed line near the turbo as well as cut the 1g feed line, and this compression union will connect the two?


Yes, but you'll probably need to do some bending also to get them to match up to the point you can join them with the compression fitting.

However, now that it's a normal business day it seems like it would have been easier to go to the stealership and get the banjo bolt and crush washers.
 
you will NOT find anything at any hardware store or common auto parts, i had this problem last weekend, go online and buy it from there, auto parts stores DO sell the banjo bolt for the head, 10mm *1.25 but not the banjo for the turbo which is a 12mm* 1.25, good luck!
 
Is it better to run the feed line to the OFH or the head and will there be any problems running it to the head.

There are a ton of threads already on this subject.

It depends on your setup. I have a 14b and I run my from the head and havent had oil issues at all. Different turbos required a different amout of oiling. Some need more PSI and others need less.
 
Guys after running the ss line from the turbo to the ofh what did you use to block the oil feed factory option on the head?
