So, I have about 600 miles on a fresh rebuilt, decking, valve job, and die tested head. I also have a new OEM headgasket with ARPs torqued to 90 ft. lbs.. I have been driving it a bit lately, and now the last few days when I park the car somewhere for about an hour or more, there are spots of oil everywhere under the car. I was looking, the oil is in the drivers fenderwell, on the crossmember under the car, the thermostat housing, side of the head, on a corner of the headgasket exposed under the oil feed line for the turbo, and the lower timing cover and oil filter housing. The first thing I did was pulled the valve cover, and made sure all of the head studs were still torqued (they were), and put on some rtv between the valve cover gasket and the head because there was some oil on the head where it rests.

Now, two days later it is still doing it, but the oil level does not appear to have dropped much, but could it still be just getting rid of the last of the previously leaked oil, or is there anywhere that appears to be the culprit?

I really hope it is not the head gasket, as it was just replaced and I didn't go haywire anywhere. I have not lost any power, and the oil and coolant is not mixed and there is still visible coolant when I open the thermostat housing cap.

All help is greatly appreciated as always, thank you! :thumb:

they dye will wash off with the oil, but it will help point out where your leak is.

I have the new valve cover and PCV valve installed. The car feels like it is driving smoother now, I think it may be because the previous PCV blew air through both ends without restriction haha. I boosted it a bit, it felt smooth, and there is not any oil in the spark plug area yet.

Tomorrow I am going to have my brother bring the car to work to get it smogged, and clean off all of the oil that is still on the car (a bunch), and add some UV dye. One problem, if it is still leaking, wouldn't the dye get everywhere just as the oil is?

Good to hear it's running better now. Get it all cleaned off before you add the UV dye. The point of the dye is to allow you to find where the oil is coming from specifically if it's dripping of blowing out and you can't pin point it. It's a good thing for it to go all over to an extent. After you add it, idle first and search and if nothing, do a few hard runs in boost and try again.

Still leaking oil. There is however no oil in the spark plug valley. I looked and there is oil pooled in a depression on the side of the CAS so it seems to be coming from somewhere up high if that is possible. There is oil sprayed again into the fenderwell, and it was just cleaned today. My brother forgot to get some dye, but he will be getting some tomorrow.

I would suggest just waiting for the dye to get into the oil and see where it's coming from. I wonder if you CAS o-ring is bad.

Sorry I was tired last night when I posted that, the oil is actually pooling on a dip in the top of the thermostat housing. It could still probably be the CAS, I tightened it a bit, andmy brother is putting some dye in it right now, so we are gonna run it a bit and see what we come up with. Ill post the results. Thanks.

So the dye has been in there a few days, and I had been checking my oil level (not on perfectly flat ground, kinda a slight incline in the street or driveway). I parked the car in my level garage to change my tranny fluid out, and checked the oil level, it appears to be all the way to the top of the dipstick, while before it was reading lower. I put the blacklight on, and there was dye pooled on the bottom of the tube coming out of the side of the valve cover by the CAS, and it was sprayed everywhere below it. Could it be that it is leaking from there being the oil level was high, and traveling under the car somehow? The tube is L-shaped with a small filter on it, is that a correct setup? Thanks!
