my car wont build any boost. runs and drives like before just no boost. and now it has a grinding noise i think my turbo my have like went out?

check the shaft play and do a boost leak test. that should shed some light on it for you.

Do you have any blueish smoke out the pipe? But as DoubleClutch said, check for shaft play both axial and radial. If the wheel can touch the housing it needs rebuild.

Dsm Gst.... if you suspect your turbo to be the issue, you should pop the intake off like Double suggested and check your turbo for shaft play. Grab the little nut and see if you can wiggle it. A wee bit of movement from side to side is ok, as long as it doesn't hit the housing... in and out is bad news bears. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask

The grinding noise would be more likely to be the impeller grinding up on the housing. Usually when it is this bad a visual inspection will show the blades all chewed up. If you are making no boost at all, it's probably so bad that there will be no doubt just on the visual inspection.

See if your wastegate arm fell off... Of course, the gringing implies it's something worse.
