I saw that nice blue 1G run but couldnt hook for sh it. I dont pay attention to FWDs just seems like a waist of time and money to me. :boring:

I also remember beating a galant VR4. Then I did loose to a black 1g awd and a smurf body kitted 2g awd. I ran an 11.5 at 127.97, double 11.6's, some 11.7's and some throw away passes wasting my time that sunday. Then I wasted my time driving it to work that week (it was my only car a month ago). Then this past sunday I wasted my time and drove it 80 miles to the track to runn 11.6's and drove home. I'll tell you one thing, in 5 years I've only wasted my time breaking 1 drivetrain part, and axle. Wasted 15mins of my time that day swapping out a fwd axle.

With all the time I've wasted I could have been working making the money to save up to buy an AWD car like a 2006 evo IX. Shit dog.......................

Representin' the fwd faith, you go boy.:rocks: Actually there are times that I think that awd is nothing but a waste, and I can say that since I have BOTH.

Wow, all these pages and not one person realizing that those mechanical fuel pumps are for METHANOL!!!

-OR-

No intercooler, no cooling system (Meth burns at somthing like -300 degrees)

Huge Turbos that dont belong on 2.0 liter four cylinders, at manifold pressures up to three time atmospheric.

Making over 1000Hp to the ground in various cases....or maybe the boatloads of custom fabrication going on!?!?!?!?

HELLO!?

This years shootout doesn't represent the best to date, it represents the best EVER in the history of the universe!

The records being broken, the Technology being implemented, the Turbos being used.

Those who went are lucky bastards, am I am truley envious.

Great photos BTW

Whoa calm down there killer. I guess I just thought all of that was common knowledge. But your right, despite the fact the magazines think dsm's are old news and they rarely if ever feature them, theres never been a better time to be a dsmer. :thumb:

I think I understood all of what was going on, but I didn't feel the need to point it out to all of those who didn't directly ask about it.

Emergency brake. It allows him to hold the car in place as he lets the clutch up slowly on his clutch. The multiple disc clutches are hard to launch as they have a tendency to engage like a light switch. By holding the car stil with the e-brake he can find the clutch's engagement point as he lifts, hold it right beneath it, then on the launch he lets go of the e-brake "which is probably spring loaded" and also engages the clutch. This makes for consistent launches.

Jake Lehmkuhl (Evil Eagle) uses the same method on his 9 second street car except he uses the factory e-brake which means he actually has to push the lever back down. If you watch his recent incar videos of it you can see him doing it. Unfortunately in John's "in-car runs" you can't see him shifting or using it.

Or you can use this method to PreLoad your sus, Alot of my 6speed Fbody freinds do this/

The lift up the Ebrake, and then start letting out the clutch really slow and find its engageing point. The car will start almost wanting to go foward, now pull the ebrake all the way, and keep the clutch pedal exactally were it is. Makes for a really good launch, its not easy and the clutch can take a beating.

Im going to try it in a few weeks when my motor is broken in etc

Just got my shootout pics back.

My last name is Montgomery, not LehmKuhl? but yes that is the method I use. I would rather have a Handle like shep does in that pic of the incar for the simple fact there is no button to worry about, and that lever would be HELL of alot easier to use then the e-brake.

The E-brake method does work, very easy to do, but I do not recomend it on just a normal ACT clutch. I am using a Quartermaster twin disc clutch. The clutch could care less if you slip the hell out of it on the line using the e-brake method. I preload so hard somtimes that the car want's to pull through the lights and the ass end sinks harder then hell. But it does work and it does save drivetrain parts, To an extent.

This white 1g was super clean.

Why not do a line lock? Then just use your horn button to hold it and when you are ready just let off. You can set it up so it goes to the front brakes inbetween the master cylinder and prop valve. Then one hand is on the wheel and one is on the shifter.
