Odd/random CEL

Well I keep getting this random and very odd CEL. It only happens at low rpm before boost or high rpms at WOT. When it comes on the car will sputter and lose power and not accell. As soon as I release the gas pedal it goes away instantly. The CEL comes on at random times, gear, and temp but its always either max boost at WOT or low rpm before boost. Its so random I cant get a log becuase I never know when its going to happen. Any suggestions?

I'm having that same issue with my talon.. I just bought a new chip and that helped out a lot but I notice I still get random knock spikes under light/med acceleration.. I would like to know what it could be.. bad sensor possibly??

check your knock sensor. sometimes you can tell just by looking at them. they start oozing junk out. also could be an o2 kicking the bucket

If it's a real CEL you should be able to log it even after the condition that caused it has passed. That's why there are stored faults and active faults. Once you pull the power or clear it with a logger it will go away.

If there is nothing stored you may have a ECU or power problem. Assuming a stock ECU.

DSMLink and many aftermarket chips use the CEL other other things in addition to signaling a fault.

I just put in a the aem uego wideband so my 02 is new... My ecu has had the caps replaced when it was soceted so I don't believe it's the ecu either.... The knock sensor might be a possibility, it's located under the intake manifold on a 1g right?

Lol just because you put in a wideband o2 does not mean your front sensor is good. And yes its under the intake manifold about mid block

I removed the front sensor and installed my wideband 02 in it's place so I'm sure it's not it

The front o2 sensor is still needed. You cannot just take it out and pop in a wideband.

you can if you wire in your 02 to the factory wiring harness for the stock narrow band.

I have link. The CEL issue started shortly before my alt tentioner fell off. I have it fixed and I still get it. Ill see if link picks anything up.

Well I should say that's when I noticed it. Ill run link later today and see what I can findout

OK i got a log of it happening. Its after the half way point. I didnt see anythng trigger on link so someone that know more what to look at please chim in.

Well you have your knock CEL set to 5* and there is at least one spot in that log that exceeds that. I'd guess that's what's turning on the CEL since there aren't any stored faults.

Yeah thats all I noticed. Close to the end it jumped up to like 8. something almost 9. Any tips to adjust for the knock?
