Odd Misfire Cyl 1

Well to start this off I had a stock coil pack set up when I got the car. I was driving around and it started to miss come to find out my return line that's steelb. had rubbed through the coil pack primary power wire grounded out and cooked my coil packs. So after that I switched to COP. It was working alright and then yet again i had soldered the wiring and used heat shrink but i had a sharp point on one connection and it poked through and grounded out the coil pack from one of the flash grounds. Took out a couple COP's on that. After this i replaced those coils and it ran fine again. Then it started to miss fire #1 randomly and to get it to stop Id shut the car down for a few seconds and start it back up and it would go away for a short while..... I don't know if it messed up the ecu when it grounded out or if it was just the COP set up, so i switched back over to stock coils and wires thinking that would fix it and it did it again.... some please help me out! I really thing I might have a bad transistor in my ecu. I already got a new ignition mod. and tried running that no fix so I took it back. I'm using DSM link V3 full. Pretty sure I got this narrowed down to the ECU but I want some input.

How clean are your solder joints? Just recently fix a cyl 3 missfire on my buddy's 95 tsi by resoldering a joint that he had done. Solder joints have to be really good or else they act like a resistor.

you might of shorted out the transistor module . its by the fuel rail

If you read it i took out the cop and went back to stock with the same problem. there's no more soldered joints since I'm not running cop

Yeah the ignition module (what you call transistor module) I tried a different new one from my local parts store they let me use it one a 30 min drive and it started to do it with a brand new one. I guess they could have gotten a bad one

Yes when I switched back to a coil pack I used new wires and new plugs. I was running colder plugs with my cop set up so I went back to stock plugs so they are new

i also did a continuity check on #1 spark plug wire moved it all around and it never broke continuity. then i checked its ohms per ft. that was fine too. spark plug had continuity.

Possible if its leaking air where the IM attaches to the head on that cylinders port.

negative when it starts to miss i can shut the car off and back on no matter temp or vac. or boost etc. if i have a boost related miss it would be a constant not a every now and then and deff not affected by a 2 sec shut off thats why i think its got to be ecm related

I had an issue like that and it ended being a wire from the cam angle sensor. A uddy o mines also told m a bad one can cause a misfire as well.
