Well I was looking for a manual boost controller to turn up the boost on my car. I really didn't want to spend more than $50, hell even $20 on it since the design on these are all the same and personally know someone with a cheapo one that has been working fine.

So off I go on ebay. There were those different colored ones that were dirt cheap a while back, but now they are no where to be found. This was the same cheapo one I mentioned that a friend of mine is using fine.

The cheapest one that was littered on ebay were these and were all about $20 shipped on average:

I searched here to see if anyone knew how these worked and how they are setup since it has that extra adapter. Couldn't find a thread regarding these or any info on them, so I was out to look for something more familiar.

I finally landed upon a seller who went by nxsmotorsports. They were selling what looked to be the simple plain jain ball/spring MBC. It was $19 shipped, and there were some info on this site regarding it, and people saying they got it for cheaper. I contacted the seller to ask why the price went up. The seller was very helpful and returned emails quickly. They explained that because of the higher ebay and paypal fees, they had to charge more.

But get this! They offered to give me a dsm owner discount of $5 if purchased directly! How awesome is that. So they sent a paypal request and my order was off.

I quickly received it in 2 days shipped via USPS. It was packaged in a small padded envelope with detailed instructions.

The instructions were very clear, there is no way someone could get the install wrong or diagnose why they were having problems.

I hooked it up to my 95 GSX with ported MHI big16g and supporting mods except stock turboback using the connection on the wastegate and the jpipe for the boost source. Went for the first pull and it was hitting 20lbs. I was just going for 15. So with a few turns counter clock wise, the boost held at 15 with no spikes or creep. I will see how this goes after I get a turboback.

Attached are the pictures of the instructions and the product itself.

Yes I've contemplated on making my own, but the parts it seems would have cost similar if not more to how much I got it, and my time.

Here is a link to the seller's store:

as you can see they are $19 shipped, but the seller said for DSM owners we can get them for $15 shipped!! Just contact them and mention that.

I also have one, great product, works great and cheap. Tell them you were hoping to get the DSMtuner discount and they will only charge like 15 bucks SHIPPED. At least thats all i paid, just say "hey, i heard you have a special price for DSM members from Dsmtuners."

I just bought one of these NXS controller's tonight. The other one thats at the very top of this page is what I use to have. It's the reason my t25 went out. The cheap hose blew and spiked it to 20psi and blew the oil seal out. It was almost impossible the adjust. It was either high or low. Hopefully this NXS one will work fine. Glad to see others on this thread has had good success with it.

Damn, I bought one a couple weeks ago without the discount :(. I have to agree with everyone else here; great company to deal with and they make an excellent mbc.

woot i got mine in today but i have no boost gauge yet so im gonna have to waste to install it. but here is how it was packaged i am vary pleased best ebay person yet.

this is the second MBC I buy from them, I usually never take the time to write a review, however this seller is so professional and courteous that I just had to (apart from the fact that their product is the most inexpensive and functional MBC I have ever seen.) Emails are responded to immediately, and they are overall a pleasure to do business with. This almost makes me want to consider making more purchases from ebay.... almost.

These look very tempting..

This guy is awesome. I bought one about a year ago, he misplaced the order and didnt ship it out until I contacted him a few days later asking for a status. He said he had misplaced my order and apologized by sending me a 2nd mbc for only 5 bucks!! I used the 1st one on my GST and now Im using the 2nd on the GSX.

I cant believe you guys buy those things. :D
Literally $10 at home depot and a half hour of time.

I bought one of the brass ones from NXS, and i love it. It holds boost wonderfully!! well worth the money. Only thing i didn't like was it's very tounchy. a very small turn can change it 2 or 3 psi. but once it's dialed in it's money.

Eh, I didn't feel like tracking down a small ball and spring. :shhh:

True..the spring thing was trial and error for me.But once I found one, I bought like 20.The ball bearings are easy come though.Pack of 100 for 5$ at a local bike shop.

Yes, I agree, but for an extra 5-6 bucks, I think it's well worth it.

I'd rather sit on my ass (LOL) wait for the part to come and install it.

Hmm I've been thinking of getting one of these from nxs.
DO NOT BUY the colored one from ebay, they don't work worth a sh*t. I never got mine to work i tried sooo many different ways of hooking it up. It was either wide open or closed no inbetween.

Those $5ish ones are terrible. Mine was either fully open or closed. Then the spring got bent inside it :ohdamn:.

Just contacted NXS Motorsports, they're still doing the deal for $15. They replied quickly and were very professional. Should be able to add to the reviews in a couple of days.

So I had my nxs boost controller set extremely loose pretty much just to test fit it and I drove around with it and somehow the nut came aloose and the screw/nut came off and the ball/spring flew out while driving.

So I spent a couple days looking for replacement parts checking different hardware stores and I couldnt find a small ball for the life of me in my area. (No Ace Hardware etc) So I decided to contact Nxs via ebay to just buy the parts from him and he got back to me within a couple hours and agreed to send the replacement parts back for FREE! (I bought the controller back in feb) and he had the parts sent the next day.

I mean I know the parts are relatively easy to find and are cheap but this guy was way cool about it.

So a great product and great customer service, def recommend him for anyone on a low budget build.

i bought a cheap one off ebay (10$) at first, spiked every time i hit the throttle, and it ended up completely breaking. then i ordered an nxs controller with the dsm discount, and it worked like a charm. never broke, and never spiked because of its nice bleed/vent hole

MM this sounds good i need a mbc, this will have to do until i upgrade dsmlilnk to run my boost. Nice reviews from everyone, money spent elsewhere.

I messaged Phil about the discount and he said he still does it. He also asked me to share this link with everybody. I know this is an old thread but I didn't think it needed it's own thread. Here it is, http://nxsmotorsports.com/sites/default/files/newmbc.jpg

He said they are selling them for $58 but will give them to DSM owners for $45. Here is what he said about them in his message.

"This is a newer model we are about to introduce. They are powdercoated and come with a stainless steel adjustment screw.

We even have the option of utilizing ceramic ball bearings if the need arises.

These new models are retailing for $58, but I'd be happy to offer them to the DSM community at $45. This would include 3' of silicone vacuum hose in either red, black, or blue, a 3/16" x 3/16" x 3/16" vacuum tee, and 4 zip ties."
