okay so heres the deal, i want to know if i can push the stock NT engine to 15psi of boost and not pop something, ive read that people been running this engine for a while with turbo shit because its a cheaper fix for the time being instead of buying a turbo 4g63 engine...so basically im looking to do a cheap fix for now so that i can drive my car LOL, but i was curious as to if its possible to run 15psi and if the engine can handle it if its not being boosted all the time.

It will handle it perfectly fine. The block are identical excluding the squirters and pistons. I beat the crap out of my old dsm only running 16psi on the 14b. I ran it for well over a year and one day I decided to take it all apart for a build up and to my surprise the owner before me put a NT block in the car. No signs of damage anywhere on the pistons or block at all.

all i gotta do is change hte oil pan to a turbo oil pan right? and can i put my turbo cams in it, i was told the NT cams arent as agressive or something as the Turbo cams, and i gotta swap over injectors too right

You need to do a lot more than that. I really dont know what goes into swapping over, but if you dont have an EMS you will need a turbo ecu, wiring harness, injectors, fuel pump and some other stuff. The n/t pistons have 9.0:1 compression if memory serves right so running that much boost may be unsafe because you may detonate and the stock n/a pistons dont handle knock that well.

there are a few things different from n/t and turbo motors, one main thing is the pistons, are weaker so it may not be safe running 15lbs, some run about half that, mainly the pistons, oil squirters, cams and injectors, you'd also need a turbo ecu and wiring harness, if I were you I'd just use 2g pistons and swap everything else out and you'd be fine with 15lbs no problem.

Hey man i have a book from Buschur Racing and they say that if you turbo charge a non turbo block anything over 8psi.... your gunna blow it up. the pistons and rods aren't the same as a turbo block! if you swap the pistons and rods out thats another story.

the rods ARE the same, i looked it up, im not a big bushur fan LOL, i was gonna swap pistons anyways, for the record i had a turbo awd talon, i blew it up..bottomed out and BROKE my already rusted oil pan that i put off changing, LOL, anyways i already got everything to swap over to it, um you guys think my pistons are still good, ### i killed the cylinder walls on my old motor.

Rods are the same, the main difference is pistons. The block is the same but oil squirters, and a machine shop can install them. Slowboy sells the squirters if my memory serves me right. I´ve been running with an n/a block for a while, with no side effects.

i was told i dont even really need the oil squirters....but if anyones got a set of 1g turbo pistons and rods for sale ill snatch them up....and wheres a good place to buy a turbo oil pan

who ever told you oil squirters are not that needed. i would not let them touch my car. forged pistons there not needed. but stock cast they are. they actually cool the pistons under heavy boost. but hey its your car.:talon:

ITS NT HARD. THERE IN THE BLOCK TEXT TO THE CRANK. extreme psi sells them. there about 11$ a peace but iam not sure if n/t blocks have them. look up oem stuff at extrempsi the sell all kindes of oem stuff.:dsm:

get an oil pan off the classifieds or something...wont be too much...i actually have a 7bolt pan but idk which fits, 6 or 7...and yeah stick with the oil squirters...also, i think extreme psi has topline everything, u should be able to score up some pistons from them BNIB for not OVERKILL...

i had an n/t engine in my 90 awd talon and ran up 20 lbs on it and it was awesome, thing was fast for stock everything. besides the squirters the engine has a little higher compression. i would have never got rid of that car if the ecu did leak burning up the injector driver leaning way out and toasting a piston! oh well it was bad ace while it lasted!

i would just throw it in a rock and roll!!!!!:thumb::rocks:

Also, your N/T pan is probably more desirable than a tubo pan. You can drill a hole and weld a -10 AN bung onto it and avoid the leak issues that the turbo pans sometimes have.

jsut got tipped on a running driving parts car with no title for $500, so ima take that deal and swap engines over....and finally drive my car i havent driven in 4 months LOL

I wouldnt suggest turboing the na engine.
A friend of mine had his na engine turboed and it was fast as hell... untill it blew the head gasket and im sure other stuff got messed up internally.
Just swap in the turbo engine if you want it to last.

Ive been going over this for awhile in my head. If the blocks are essentially the same save for the oil squirters which could be added by tapping the block anyways wouldnt it be a cheaper alternative to replace a motor with one of these?
-Just replace pistons with turbo ones.
-Swap cams.
-Tap block for oil squirters.
-Swap oil pans
This is pretty much assuming you have a blown turbo motor to scavenge some of the parts from.

I found the same pistons that slow boy list as OEM on ebay for $100 cheaper. Thats what I got for my rebuild. They're made by Nippon.

Yup. I know a couple guys that explore scrap yards for N/T blocks, service them, and sell them for turbo blocks. Quite profitable for them.

to tell you how i feel about the n/t engine running turbo i would say awesome,as for me i ran it for a while and it was great at 8 psi talk about serious pull/power you can feel as it pushes you back in the seat. But i did the unforgiveable got a turbo bottom end adn swarped it over, now at 15 psi it still does not pull as hard st the n/t did,got me thinking that i wonna tear her open again and get higher comp pistons, apart from the serious counts of knock she pulled hard and i miss her dearly i plan on running a 50/50 e85 mix so i won't worry about the knock

as far as racing it and beating the balls off the car, i dont do that too much, car never saw the track to be honest, raced a few times before it poped, but i need something to just drive, and have the 15psi there if i really wanan use it, im leaving for the army and i dont got time to search for a decent 6bolt to swap into it, i just wanna put a motor n to get to work and back thats about it LOL....so i figured just throw in a N/A engine and put my turbo shit on it.
