Ok guys I have heard plenty of cars with rod knock but Im a lil confused on this one. I have what sounds like rod knock but its not constant as i have always seen rod knock be. It only comes on at 2300-2700 rpm with a light load. It is audible when cruising in 3rd gear (auto) and maintaining 40 mph. If I turn on o/d it goes away. It is very predictable and easy to get it knocking. This also makes my knock sensor go crazy! If i free rev I get a small amount of knock registered like 2.5 deg and while driving it will go to arround 5 deg. If It does start while accelerating hard it will be audible only fr a secod but will register on the knock sensor till I completely let off the gas.
Is this a rod or something else?

That could very well be torque converter bolts. Jack it up, pull the dust shield off and see if they are loose. Rod knock you can typically hear throughout the entire RPM range and would not be changed by the overdrive button.

If it's not the torque converter then you might have the pull the pan and do a wiggle test.
People tweak over having to drop the pan, and it really is no fun, but it's easy stuff.

Yeah it's not hard at all to remove the pan just a dirty job
-Remove T-Case
-Drain oil
-Remove oil return line for turbo
-Remove oil pan bolts
-I had to unbolt the unbolt carrier bearing to access one of the bolts for the oil pan
-Use something to pry the pan away from the block
-Twist and turn it until you clear the oil pickup tube
