One night while driving home on the highway, as I was getting onto the off-ramp the car died on me. I tried to start it back up real quick before reaching the end, but ended up having to pop start it. Now I got it running and as I was pulling into a parkinglot the car died again. Again couldnt start it. So I again popped started it, but this time when I started it back up it had a terrible knocking sound. This was the first day I actually drove my car in a long while, and I was not hard on it at all. It sounds as if its a Rod, Rod bearing or some sort. But Im not sure why this would happen if I wasnt raping the car. Also I would be in full boost and the car not go anywhere. I havent drove it since it died in the parking lot. Any help would be great.

Yeah but I don't think it would be a boost leak due to the fact of the hideous rattle. I'll take a video of it to see if anyone can determine if it's a rod or bearing or such.

Go check your end play in your crank pulley.. make sure it's in spec.
Check your dipstick for metal shavings..
Pull the oil pan and check for metal shavings in your pan.
While your in there, try moving the rod caps, if you can move them.. That is rod knock.

Good luck.

Can't tell much other than you think that it's X. I think you're going to have to be the one to tell us.

If you're sure the noise was internal and nasty, just drop the pan. Don't even think twice, it's infinitely easier than people make it out to be - assuming you've not done it before.

Just keep track of your 2 short bolts. ;)

Yeah it most definitely sounds internal. And it's also never done this before. And if it turns out to be a rod bearing and there are metal shavings, is there anyway to flush them out of the block without taking it apart. I've been working on this car for over 6 months and have only gotten to drive it one day, so anything that would be the easiest route would be the best.
