Picking up a 91 gsx tomorrow and its tranny is shot, came across a 90 awd tranny and i've searched to see if the spline count is the same etc and will be a straight forward swap. But some of the information I have came across is misleading and some contradicts the other information. From what i've gathered the 90 is different than the 91-94.

Long story short, will a 90 model awd tranny slap straight into the 91?

Thanks in advance for the help guys, really appreciate it...

Not likely. All of the 91's are supposed to share the transmission and shifter links with the later cars according to CAPS but it also says that some early (first two/three weeks) use the same output shaft and transfer case as the late 90's which would be a different (22) spline count from the later cars (23).

Thanks a ton for the quick reply, haha just my luck since the deal on the 90 was a smoking deal.

So in other words i've got to find one from a 91-94 to slap straight in correct?

You need to know the build date of the 91 to be sure.
If you do need the later trans you really want a 91/92 trans if you can find one.

Gotcha, i'll be picking her up tomorrow night and then i'll be able to find out and get this all narrowed down and straightened out. Thanks for the heads up on the 91/92 trans if I do need the later. I'll post up tomorrow what I find out, thanks again for the help Steve I really appreciate it...
