Alright so my friend is selling a 98 GST (FWD) he has a 16g turbo on it, brand new axles, clutch, cams, heads, and front mount (still in box) Im kinda thinking about buying it he only wants 5000 for it andddd to top it off hes getting it painted right now because the clear coat was fading. Its pretty nice and with all the upgrades that arent even installed yet I thought its worth the money. Im looking for a car to get into the 12s thats it! Nothing serious so no need for GSX (AWD) what you guys think. With that 16g and cams, heads, tuned 12s on tires? I need opinions on if its worth the 5k if so DSM her I come btw only 68k miles on it.

Also, thanks for pointing out that GST was the FWD and GSX was the AWD, I always get those confused.

Your probably going to need to get some slicks to get into the 12's with a fwd..Your going to get alot of wheel spin down the track..

Well thats no good! Slicks itll be then I guess. The cars really clean and never been raced at the track and my friends kind of a pu*** he rarely gets into it because hes a cop. So I know it hasnt been beat on too bad. I just dont know what these things generally go for.

So what we know is it's a 1998 Eclipse GST (FWD - thanks again for that). We know it has SOME kind of 16G, but we don't know which one. We know it's got new axles, whichever ones, we know it's got a new clutch, but we don't know which one. We know it's got cams, but we don't know which cams. We know you're a bit confused as our car only has one head, so it doesn't have new "heads", and if it does indeed have a new head, why and from where? We also know it's got a front mount intercooler in the box, but we don't know which one.

We also don't know what the mileage is, how the car's been treated, how the rust is (strut towers). We don't know if there are any fuel mods or a tuning and logging solution. We don't know if it has any gauges it'd need. We don't know when the timing belt was changed, we don't know how the tires are, we don't know if the exhaust has a hole in it, we don't know anything about this car really - except that he's asking 5 grand, which is a lot for a GST.

Jesus you seem like you want to have s3x with the car! And I know several people that have made their GST AWD, thanks! And maybe I didn't tell you all this because I dont know it myself if you want to know this damn much about it hop on CarHarmony and find it! And I do believe I put how many miles where on it perhaps you can not read or have selective sight!

That's a bit harsh. We're not here to flame or discourage, well sometimes I am, but as a whole, the board isn't. If he's set on this car, despite not knowing anything about it, I do wish him luck. If nothing else, he's going to learn a lot about cars, or at least the financial responsibility of owning a broken one.
