Noise! help!

I can not find this specific noise description anywhere here. I took a video of it.
sometimes it wont do it at all, and than a few days itll do it all the time.
New crank pulley/harmonic balancer.

Sound kind of like my water pump before it went out.

it doesnt overheat though. i did take off the belts and spun the water pump pulley and it was easy, then rough, and easy and so on.

Mine didn't over heat neither but the water pump had a lot of play on it.

Maybe we're wrong, but I had an aftermarket pump go bad in less than 10K miles. NPW, I think. I got a new one for free, put it on, then the car got totaled 1000 miles later. I was under the same car again later, at the junk-yard, and it was leaking again already. Mine sounded like a brake drum on a lathe when it was going bad. It had metal shavings all over it when I took it out. I'd assume it is the pump.

Get an OEM one. It's worth the loot.

i know any play on the pumps is bad, but mine has almost none. and no shavings in the coolant(flushed). Should i take the alternator belt off and see if it stops?

To see if it's the water pump making that noise, just take off all of your external belts when the car is making the noise and run the engine without any of them.
Just DON"T LET IT OVERHEAT..
You can run the engine for a short while, enough to hear if the noise went away without the W-pump and accesories running at the same time as the engine. Hope that helps!

Yes, remove accessory belts one at a time see if the noise goes away.

Get a long screw driver and put the tip of it on water pump, ps pump or alternator. Put your ear very close to the end of the handle and listen for the noise.
