I have a 90 Eagle Talon Tsi. I just finished up putting a (used) head on, new timing belt, water pump, head gasket etc.
It starts right up, idles fine around 1000k rpm. My boost gauge reads 0 at idle, and around -4 if i rev it to 1800-2000k. Sounds decent, does have a little bit of a miss.
-Ive boost leak tested it. None besides a tiny one at the throttle body (doesnt leak til 20 psi, takes about 6 minutes for system to bleed down to zero).
-Ive tested the gauge in another vehicle, works fine. Ive also tried different vaccum lines, and tapping from other vaccum sources. I have no emmisions, ive tapped ic pipe, fpr, throttle body...doesnt make a difference.
-Ive checked cam timing. Dead on.
I have a small exhaust leak at the manifold to head (broken stud).Also running an open downpipe. I wouldnt think this would cause this problem.
I might be thinkin valve seals are junk or something along those lines. I am going to compression test it after work tonight, but other than that, Im runnin out of ideas. I may take it out and actually try to hit boost and see what it does if compression test checks out. Anyone?
