I was given a 95 eclipse rs a little more than two months ago. after two weeks of sitting in my garage i went to start the car and i got a puny attempt to turn over then nothing. i jumped the battery a couple times, one time i got a similar attempt at a turnover and the other a large sputtering and then nothing. now when i try to start it i hear a click from what i assume is my starter and that's it.
I don't have a printer to download a service manual to assist me in maybe troubleshooting the problem, and i don't want to pay money at a service place just for them to diagnose my problem.

note: The car was sitting in a garage during a cold chicago winter

Can anyone give me an intelligent guess as to what's going on? i have read the how to diagnose a No-Start thread, but i'm new to DSM's and cars in general and you guys will have a better conclusion than me i hope.

Just because you jumped the battery doesn't mean its holding the voltage necessary to start the car. Do the dome lights, head lights, dash lights, etc. etc. etc. look dim when turned on or not turn on at all?

i remember getting the dash lights and headlights working but come to think i couldnt get the radio to turn on or the interior lights. can i jump the car and then read the wattage coming out of my battery? will that tell me if i have a faulty battery or not?

Smaller gauged jumper cables often aren't able to do the job right like heavier gauge cables so something to keep in mind..

I had similar problem with a battery turned out the terminals inside battery were broken so wasn't pulling the full voltage from battery.
