Sometimes my car will have no spark at 1 and 4. I tried a new coil and had no problems for about 2 weeks and now i am back to 1 and 4 cutting in and out all the time. sometimes they will cut out and stay that way for a while other times they will cut back in almost immediatly. I thought my ecu was bad because i took it apart and it had rust and corrosion on it so i got a rebuilt one. It didn't help at all. I am not sure what to check. I don't know whether a new coil will fix it and i hate to waste the money and have the same thing happen. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Check your coil wires to make sure that there is no corrosion, it sounds like you are getting a bad connection, if you can borrow one I would see if a coil pack would fix it temporarily that way you do not have to fork over cash for one..

I have been searching around the forum and found that some people have problems with the transistor pack. Is there a way to test this? Also I saw something about testing a wire from the ecu to the transistor plug. Does anyone know what to check with the wiring?

If you are checking the wiring you need to check the resistance from one end to the other.

I'm not sure if it possiable but could you swap the coil pack from 2&3?

I am not sure if I can do the because the coil i have is off a 90 and it is both coils together not separated from eachother. Also i am wondering if there is something that could be causing the coils to go bad.

Most 2.0's at the junk yards have the transistor. Luckily you are not a 90 and they are different. If the transistor goes bad it kills 1 and 4 everytime so Im guessing thats your problem. Never heard of one coming back though, so that makes me think it may not be it also.

Yeah I am going to try to get one tomorrow if i can get done with work in time. I noticed that the ones i read about that were bad sai they lost 2 cylinders and they never came back. Hopefully thats it though.

Another thing that is not right is my tach usually sticks around 2k or at 0 until it warms up then it doesn't ever go above 2500. I didn't know if maybe this could mean that something may not be hooked up right and causing the no spark issue?

Well I decieded to just go and get a coil and transistor. i put them on and it is running better. It is missing but it has 1 and 4 back. My tach is also now constantly stuck at 2500. I only drove it like 3 miles so I really don't know if its ok or not cause sometimes it took a while for 1 and 4 to cut out.

The PT and coil are off of a 91-94 eclipse(I don't remember but its definatly not a 90). It is running way better it hasn't cut out 1 and 4 yet but it does have a missfire and the trach is stock and also it is stuck at exactly 2200. The ecu is a rebuilt 91 from http://motoguys.com/.

Thanks for everyone's help. I got the CAS installed and I also got a set of taylor 8mm plug wires and it is now running like a champ. No missing at all. My tach still doesn't work but i can live with that.
