Hello everyone,

Having an issue with my 1991 Talon auto awd and I feel like I’m losing it. I have gone through all of the trouble shooting in the Hanes manual and I am still not getting any spark.

I have done all of the tests for the following systems below:
Coil pack
Power transistor
ECU
CAS
Spark plugs
Spark plug wires

The ECU showed no abnormal signs when I checked the codes.
The power transistor wasn’t originally working but has been replaced and passes all the tests from the manual.
Coil pack isn’t shorting to ground and is working as expected.
CAS is working as expected and pulsing the 5v when the engine turns.

I really have no idea where else to look? Any ideas? Maybe the theft alarm or the inhibitor switch?

It had been sitting in a relatives garage for 20 years untouched. Was running when he put it away and when we tried to start it for the first time a few months back we were getting fuel and the timing was right and changed the air filter. Only thing we didn’t have was any sort of spark coming from any of the spark plug wires

I would look to ECU first. Does check engine light come up at key on, light 5 sec then go off?
Physical inspection of ECU may be in order. Check for obvious damage, leaking capacitors etc. I would also look for obvious wiring harness damage from rodents both inside and outside of the car.

Yes thats exactly what happens for the check engine light. okay, i assumed the ECU was okay because i was getting a normal reading from the codes. as far as wiring harness ill do a more through inspection of the harness but at first glance i didnt see anything.
