no second gear and overdrive ?

i bought a 90 eclipse 2.0l with a bad tranny, the guy i baught it off of said it didn't have 3rd gear or overdrive.. i wasn't able to drive the car to find out because the ecu went bad.. after getting the ecu rebuilt by STEVE and getting it running i was able to take it out on the road. after driving it just down the road it has first and would rev hi then shift into second but would just rev like there was nothing there then would jerk into third and do fine but when i turned over drive on it would act like it shifted into o/d but would just rev just like second.. is this a tcu prob or an actually trans prob to where i need to replace the whole transmission? after driving the car some more it seemed like it didn't come out of 3rd, is this limp mode ? if so why is it in limp mode? I'm not very faund of auto transmissions in these cars because they have alot of problems with them but i need to get this car running for the time being because my other car is not running ... any help is appreciated

Keep driving it, eventually first will go out, and the it will try to shift into some thing and a big loud clang will happen and the car will have to get towed, like mine WTF




Time for an overhaul dude. I took my car to aamco, I spoke with my technician first, felt comfortable with him, spent 2900 for the rebuild parts and labor (billet TC, trans cooler, shift kit) and got a 3 year 30k mile warranty.
