So I did some of my own upgrades and noticed that the previous owner did some cobbled bs to my turbo oil feed line from the head. He took out the eyelet/restrictor and went with a open 90 deg fitting..... Should I be worried about a pressure or volume issue?

I'm running a ported fp68hta turbo if that helps. I was going to just go to the ofh as fp's webpage recommends it. However, after doing a lot of research. There is so much conflict as to where to get my oil from

Which 68hta is it? The newer one, or the old style, Mitsu chra based one? If the former, you should do as they say, if its the latter, run it off the head. That said, if it is the Mitsu chra based 68hta, then the hole in the oil inlet is already quite small. The chra that FP designed has a larger hole, and therefore the appropriate restrictor should probably be used. Personally, I had a Red before I began parting out my car recently, and I went from the filter housing with the FP filter, which has the appropriate sized restrictor for their jb turbos.

I bought the FP 68hta back in 2009 straight from FP off the diamond star section of their website.

Believe it or not i'm actually just starting the build. Bought all my stuff back 09', but that's a long story for another time as to why I'm just getting around to it, LOL.

The last DSM 68HTA I serviced which was only a few months old at the time still had an OEM MHI thrust plate...so I'd personally recommend running some sort of restrictor if you're feeding from the filter housing, although I'd do whatever FP recommends if the turbo is new enough to still be under warranty.
