OK, now I am almost drunk. Because after 2 years of building this moror / car I think I messed something up big time. I have been having a problem keeping boost at what I want (18 psi). 11.6 lbs spring combo in waste gate. The other day I boosted 26 psi! Dsmlink with no real tune. Today I checked waste gate for proper spring install. All seamed good. I ran it and I produced 20 plus psi immediattely. Then all of a sudden I felt no power so I pulled it into the garage. No head gasket leak, no leaks at all. Compression test showed 125, 140, 140, 140. And I started hearing a loud ticking noise. What do you guys think I might have done?

Well I got it figured out. I feel stupid. My can gears became lose and were slapping from 12° advanced to 12° retarded. I'm lucky I didn't bend a valve. Pur them back at zero deg and all is good. No more tick! No wonder it barely ran. Thanks to all of you that helped...
It is a ticking sound. Sounds like its coming from the head but not totally sure.its coming from the #1 cylinder closest to the can gears. Same cylinder with the lowest compression.

You could have a bad lifter. If it is bad, holding full pressure, it will not allow the valve to close all the way.

The motor is brand new. I broke it in with the stock injectors. Then installed the fic 880's. Maybe 30 minutes of run time on the motor total. Everything is new including gsc lifters. But maybe that run I made the other day @26 psi might have done some damage. Bad lifter, broken spring? Gonna pull the valve cover tonight and look. How can I tell if the lifter is bad without tearing the head apart?

Well I just pulled the valve cover off and everything seems fine no broken spring. Damn I was hoping it was a broken spring or something fairly simple like that. Now what?

Well now I warmed the motor up and I have 195, 195, 195, 200 psi in the cylinders. So that's good. The tick is still there but now it is fouling the pluggs. And will not idle. Runs terrible and no power. Boost leak?
