I went to start the car up before and gave it a crank. The second I turned the key, I heard it crank for a split second and all of a sudden, there was no power at all. I have no lights, no power, no nothing. I checked all the fuses and they were all good. I'm sure the battery isn't dead cause I went to autozone and they checked it out. It came out 12v and they said it was still good.

When I rubbed the positive terminal over the battery, it didn't spark at all. So I'm not sure if the thing is dead or not.

Okay, I'm done for the day. I had someone come over and we jumped the car. We got it power up and we cranked it over. When its fully on, we pulled the cable and everything ran fine. The car was running and everything was working, but when I turned off the car, the thing was back to how it was. No power, no crank, no anything.

After that, I changed my terminals. I put some new terminals on and made sure everything was clean. I got the car to have power to it like headlights, radio, wipers any accessories in the car. But when I try to crank it over, the whole thing just cuts out. No battery again.

Does this sound like a dead battery to anyone? It almost seems like the battery itself isn't accepting charge at all. I bought the battery to autozone and they said that it was good and it showed me 12v. My friend told me that even though it can say 12v, it can still be a junk battery. So I'm thinking it most likely a dead battery.

Took the battery out to Strauss to test today. Confirmed that it definitly was good. It was putting out 12.5v and 733amps. I hooked up my friend's battery to my car and took off mine and same thing. No power to the car at all.

But if I put jumper cables on top of my car from his car, the car starts up. I even drove the car around for a few blocks but I noticed that whenever I turn on anything like the blinkers, everything inside would blink. It leads me to think that there is a major short somewhere.

Anyone got ideas to chime on?

I had a 300zx before that had the exact same problem. It ended up being a bad alternator. It makes sense because you said that the car will start if it gets jumped started but if you keep running the car and the alternator is not charging your battery, you are basically eating up the battery's power. You should definately get the car's alternator checked because if you keep letting the battery die and jump starting it all the time, youll end up needing to replace both. Good luck.

Guys, its not the alternator. The car isn't running through the battery AT ALL. When the car is on, its running on the alternator, I know that its still working. Also, the battery is fully charged and has nice strong amperage.

I did hook up another battery to it and still no luck. Same thing happened.

It sounds like a bad battery connection or possible bad 30 amp ignition fuse connection. It's the big ugly pink one...

When you said that when you turned on the turn signal everything blinks makes me think its a bad ground. This kinda thing happened to me. It was on my civic but and electrical circut is and electrical circut. If you did any kinda mod to anything electrical i would go over it again. If not I would check that the positive harness is not grounding itself on something. Who knows maybe the night before it had the problem you hit a big bump and it finally cut through the cover and is grounding it out. Hope that helped. :dsm:
