Well first off heres the story...
Got this 95 talon tsi awd 5spd on a trade ... well long story short the kid lied his ass off to me and well im stuck with it and proceeded to fix his insane amount of #### ups. The car came with engine/trans/tcase outside of car and said "had all the stuff there to put it back together" well no there wasn't but thats not my problem... My problem is he had major electrical issues, i found old posts from him saying how he fried most of the harness and that the car wouldnt stay idle ect... so after finding that out i picked up a donor car (96 tsi awd 5spd) that i removed ALL of the wiring harness's and swapped them into my 95... that was a long process in it self.. well i finally dropped the engine in the car and wired in a few things and noticed i was missing the starter harness or whatever it is. the one i had was the chopped up one from the old harness and from not seeing what an original one looks like i have no effin clue so i wired that to the starter, the signal wire and it branches off to i think one of the boost solenoids on the firewall?
Any who from that it goes to the battery, and i grounded the starter from the trans (starterbolt) to the firewall were the battery ground is. Get in and turn the key, absolutely nothing, I can here the relay inside the car clicking, but thats it, fuel pump turning on when i turn key ect.. i jumped the starter with a jumpbox and the starter did engage (did this with the starter not bolted in) so i know or least think the starter is good (tried 3 other starters i had laying around.) Only thing i dont know is if its a 1g or 2g starter if that matters.
If anyone knows wtf im doing wrong or if im missing something on the harness for the starter please let me know, i read something about by passing the relay in case security or some bs is on but i see no security light on nor understood how to go about doing this. Thanks again.
Also on that starter wire harness does it plug into the harness like the 1g's or does it just go straight to the battery...
