Well, my car went through another big transformation. Switched the BB 50-trim to a t3, new ramhorn manifold, re-circulated wastegate, and a bigger ARC FMIC...but the biggest change was the paint. I liked black, but it was too hard to keep perfectly clean and I just wanted a change.

Rear bumper needs to be buffed (after the clear sets up a bit more), and I forgot to put the center rear bumper brackets back on, but I'm happy with it.

It took several months, but I finally decided on my wheels, and got everything mostly all together so I decided to take some shots.

Guess I can put the idea here for ya instead of your muffler thread.

I have been considering what I would do differently from you, as well as all the other factors (ie. cost, hassle, further noise reduction, etc) in regards to the Varex muffler. I would scuff the shit out of it first (probably try the sand blaster initially) to make it look like crapola, then spraying it down with some black paint. Could always try using something laying around, like some corse sand paper or wire brush. Anything that would help the paint stick and take the finish off. And of course cutting off the original tips and welding on some slimmer ones.

One thing that I would "change" to the Varex system is to add a plate that closes off the chamber hole, thus making the system as close to a free-flowing 3 inch as possible.

Thanks guys :rocks:

I posted up some vids in that thread.

I'd like to put on some slimmer ones, but the smallest I could have is 3" so that the open flap could still have a straight through 3" muffler.

The hole that leads to the baffled chambers won't distrupt airflow at all when the flapper plate is open. The only real restriction would be the small profile of the flapper, but thats the equivilant of a throttle body butterfly and shouldn't affect much.

Here's a nasty MSPaint of how I built mine, and how the Varex works from what I can tell (didn't cut it open).

Hey matt that is a nice color, maybe ill get the chance to see it up close sometime, I know you did a lot of work elsewhere. Mines getting another overhaul next year, including paint.

I personally like black but the change was good. doesn't hurt to try something new. I do like the choice of wheels you went with.

looks awesome..I'm partial to black but I agree that it is a huge pain to keep clean. what's the name of the color? I think gunmetal wheels would compliment that color better but it still looks great and I'm really liking the plate.

Yeah, that's what I figured it looks like on the inside Matt. But I would make the same argument for a 3 inch cutout. I would like to see two plates utilized instead of one. Just my opinion.

What would the other plate be used for? I guess I'm not following.

I tried gunmetal wheels on it and I didn't see enough contrast between the body color and the wheel color. I suppose I could have had the wheels powdercoated a darker gunmetal, but they were limited on colors.

To close up the rest of the piping when using the cutout.

Or in the case of the Varex, to close up the muffler's hole.

great job!!! looks amazing!

What rims are those? Are they legit Volk TE37s or are they the Rota Grids? 18s? Im acually looking into buying a set for my 1g.

Car looks great! love the rims!

Those rims look very similar to the rims I have on my Talon. The only differance I can see is the lug bolt area. Mine came off an Eclipse, but not 100% sure what year. Pics coming soon.
