i dont have an front o2 sensor in my car, i tried wiring the rear into the front harness but it ran like crap from that... wtf? any suggestions? i'm only getting 12mpg and i NEED it to go up!

Like Cdc said, why not buy a new OEM front O2 and install it? Seems like the only option if the rear O2 swap had bad results.

So go buy a new front o2 sensor. You cant just wire it up to the rear. Dont work that way

so i'll need to drill a hole in the header and weld on a nut for the o2? i dont have a hole for the 1st o2 and there isnt one on top of the downpipe

It can be anywhere after the header collector. I'd try to put it in the factory location right after flex section. Just make sure it's not sticking out where it can get hit be a rock or something.

well i'm getting a header and downpipe to finish my full exhaust system and it has the o2 hole on the header just before the downpipe. should i just use that when i get it?

don't criticize me because its ebay, its 2"in and 2.25" out which is plenty for my n/a

Yeah, that would work. But it depends on how long it will be until you get the new exhaust system. If it's going to be a few weeks, I would at least have a bung welded somewhere onto the header. A not-so-good front O2 is better than no front O2. Any exhaust shop should be able to weld in the bung. They'll probably even have a weld-in bung there with how often they deal with O2 sensors.

Edit: Didn't see the link before. That exhaust is definitely not what you want. The 1g exhaust follows a different path under the car. The header may work, but the rest will not.

Unfortunately your cursed with the oddball DSM engine. Performance parts for your engine are going to be hard to find. The exhaust for an NA 4g63 2g would work, but those cars were only sold in Europe and parts for them are just as hard to find. You may have to keep the stock header (which is a pretty nice piece already) and get a test pipe and FWD 4g63 cat-back.

However, there is this company called RPW who offers a 4g64 header and collector. They claim it fits 1996-2005 4g64. So whether or not you could use parts for a 3g 4g64, I'm not sure. You could be the guinea pig and try some headers for a 3g. But even if the header/collector fit, I doubt a catback would. For that you would want a DSM catback.

well i could just get the header and use a gst downpipe. either way i'd get it to work, i already had to modify the catback and cold air intake to fit. the reason why i'm replacing the head is its really rusty and is leaking on the #2 cylinder. i may just pull it, clean it, and paint it chrome or something (high temp obviously).

Just an fyi this exhaust won't fit on a 2g.

bringing back dead thread but yes it does work. i made it work LOL full 2.25" exhaust for NA 4g64 for $200 not bad
