No Boost

I HAVE A 1992 GALANT VR4 CAR WAS RUNNING FINE THE HOLE DAY, NOW THE CAR WONT BUILD ANY BOOST AND WONT GO PAST 5K RPMS. NO SMOKE, CHECKED THE SPARK PLUGS,WIRES AND BOOST LEAK. CANT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM DOES ANY1 HAVE ANY IDEAS ON ### IT CAN BE?

what happens at 5k rpm. stop like rev limit or stutters, bogs, cuts out?? if everything is in working order as you state check the shaft play. is your turbo making any out of the ordinary noise like a whinning?

sorry about the caps im on the job computer forgot to take it off. well it dont build boost at all and wen it hits 5k rpms it sounds like a rev limiter havent checked for shaft play yet gona do that tonight wen i get out of work

first of all a boostleak test
check if your wastegate/actuator works correctly
if the car ran fine all day maybe you popped an intercooler hose ?
do you have a mbc maybe its malfunctioning
if you have a boost gauge what does it read whats your vacuum?
also check for boostleaks in the car(boost gauge)
how does the car idle?

buddy of mine's car lost the pin on the wastegate actuator, and it stopped building boost...... or you could have siezed the turbo.

I lost the pin to mine to...thought I really messed something up untill I saw the actuator rod just hanging there.

If the car isn't bucking or anything, i would think that is weird. I remember when i popped off my intercooler pipe, the start ran like shit for the 25 secs or so i ran it. Couldn't accelerate at all, no power. I could get over 3000. I would check that first. Secondly, like others say, no power could be an open wastegate, so the car is building boost but not helping at all, which would equate to no power and stops at 5000 rpm.

i checked the wastegate and its fine car got me stuck just gona take it to a shop and see if some1 can find my prob.

Like everyone said, sounds like a seized turbo or a open wastegate.good luck with your find.

did you do a boost leak test ?
also chek the vacuum line that goes to the wastegate

mine was running against the radiator and burned a hole in it
and car was running like shit

what does your boost gauge reed?
does the turbo spins oke when moving the wheel by hand?

oh and the last thing i can think of is a restriction in your exhaust system
do you still have your cat

make sure the whole system is open

boost guage dont read anything ### it dont boost kinda have a feeling its the turbo

i forgot what its called but check the rubber things that connect your pipes together mine had a tear in one and my car would not boost. so yea

he's talking about the couplings. i tore threw rubber ones. went with 4ply from sbr. Awesome

well i finally got a chance to check the car out, my turbo is stuck wheel dont move for nothing. I was wondering is the 16g the bigest turbo that can bolt right on?

im having the same problem, i am getting negative vacuum pressure but when i git the gas the car revs fine but only goes up to zero psi, i thought my turbo siezed up becacause i went to spin it but it was moving just back and forth but then i started the car and it didnt move then i went to spin it by hand and it broke free and started spinning again, but i am still getting no possitive boost pressure
