Hello just recently picked up a 91 eclipse gsx my problem is it wont go in two full boost stays at 8psi and stuers after that turbo is good its a 70 trim has arps cosmetic head gasket big front mount it drives perfect only problem is when going in two boost???

+2 Might be stuck. See if you can work it by hand.

Could be a problem with your wastegate.

I had a similar issue with my 90 TSi when the boost did not work properly at all. Often it would build more boost than the computer was telling it to make. Then, ironically enough, I went to the East Coast Shoot out in Maryland, and I couldn't make any boost above 1-2 lbs.

On the way home, it ran fine.

I ignored it, and just didn't build boost past 10 lbs, although it was able to get above 20.

At the Buschur's Shootout in Ohio, I ended up running into the exact same issue. I determined that my waste gate actuator was malfunctioning. When it was stuck open, I could not build hardly any boost, and then sometimes it would be stuck closed, allowing my boost to build up way beyond what it was set for.

There was no issue mechanically with the actuator, but it was mounted a little out of place. A few bushings later and my boost has been running right where it should be since.

I'm curious what turbo he is running, I just bought my first DSM and the previous owner put a cheap Godspeed 16g on it.. I have serious boost creep issues, cant keep boost down so I will be porting the WasteGate next weekend.

The turbo is good just changed spark plugs ngk bpr7es the thing thats weird is a day prior i did a pull and it boosted fine but only gave me 10psi then i noticed there was no gasket in between westgate and turbo manifold (external) so i had a gap there so i put the gasket and sealed all the way and thats when it started doing it

Interesting.. at what rpm does it hit 8psi?

Hmm, that seems really high in the RPMs for only 8psi. Does the car have an exhaust? If so how big(2.5" or 3")? Does the WasteGate vent back into the exhaust?

Alright, lets see....

With the car idling and hood open can you see any exhaust leaking from or around the wastegate?
NOTE: In this condition you should have all exhaust going through the turbo and nothing from the wastegate.

Simple wire the wastegate shut if that solves the problem and the boost sky rockets then there's a problem with the wastegate if this doesn't solve it then you know there's another issue. Just use your right foot to control the boost.

If you want help, start by updating your profile so people can quit guessing, and actually give you some worthwhile feedback. At minimum, and complete mod list and basic information about your car would be great for starters.

So it turned out two be the 2 spark plug wire was cracked from the middle So the spark was every were problem fixed boosting 12 psi feels great going put a boost controller and bump up the boost thanks every one for the advice i will update my profile as well :)
