I know this has been asked a million times and this situation is different. So my 95 talon tsi ran fine until the other day I parked it at the DMV and was there for an hour and came and and had no acceleration until about 3k and then the turbo spooled up and was good. I did a boost leak test and fixed pretty much all of them and then it drove like new and was fine until I turned on the headlights then it dropped in idle and I lost all acceleration again.

When the car was working well the boost guage in the dash would fluctuate but now its just dead and doesnt move. Yes I have a aftermarket gauge hooked up.

Any suggestions on what it could be? hitting the gas the RPM's build slowly and boost doesnt come till 3k.

Thank for the help

Hard to explain but its sluggish accelerating and doesnt build boost till about 3k....I could floor it and go nowhere

And not that this matter but the stock guage used to move now doesnt move at all so still possibly a new leak?

@Spanky
I havent checked the MAF but sorry for the newb question but what exactly would I be looking for as far as visible issues?

Sounds like a bad wire or ground somewhere because of the headlights having an effect on the way it runs. Fuel pump or coils might not be getting enough volts to run like they should. Make sure you alternator is charging right and battery is good.

I'd bank on an ignition problem based on what you're describing. Bad ground, corroded terminals... stuff related to your charging system.

The reason why is because you turn on a high-drain electrical circuit (lights) and the engine struggles to run normally. If your charging system is over-taxed, it may not be leaving enough juice to fire the plugs.

Boost leaks do contribute to situations like these, but you need air fuel and spark to make fire. You solved the air part already. Cutting the lights on shouldn't affect fuel or spark IF your charging system is healthy... so the only thing left is fuel and spark. You'd need a fuel pressure gauge to tell you if the fuel system is struggling, but since your fuel pump is electrical... here we go... we're full circle again. Focus on the health of your electronics first.

This sounds like a good starting ground so like travis said along with others Ill check the electrical and see if this solves the issues thanks for the help guys.

Posted that quote for those who might have similar issues as that clears some things up

Yes he did. His battery crapped out and was causing some form of electrical issue across. New battery and it fixed his problem last I heard, although he still has a boost leak.
