Newbie with a rally car.

Hello everyone, I am completely new to DSM... And Frankly completely new to rally.

I got a 1990 Eagle Talon for a damn decent price, and with a current SCCA Logbook and Rally America approval and race history I find myself extremely pleased.
I am located in Colorado, south of Denver. Sold my 2005 supercharged Lotus Elise to get into hillclimbs and stage rallies... Maybe some Rally-x to get me started though.
I'm sure I'll have lots of questions in the future.

The car is.. well... "modified"... with a few dents tossed in for good measure

Colorado, eh? Going to rallycross nationals this weekend? We were planning to go to nationals but unfortunately, saving for house down payment and well, that's more important. My wife and I may be going out to CORE this Saturday to have fun. Be sweet to actually see a straight rally legal talon out there.

you consider putting 25k into an STi to make it a rally car ruining it? STi is a "rally car" by definition, thats what it was made for.

New STi's and Evo's bought at the dealership share very few parts with their full blown rally counterparts.

Why take your nice new expensive Suby with warranty and bash it around a dirt track?

This is true... look at the old Mitsu Lancer OZ Rallyart edition... i wouldnt drive that thing across a puddle...

As for the new STI and Evo, personally i think they are more setup for street then for offroad, and would rather keep a good warranty

fair enough, i forgot about the warranty, however you can make a new STi into a rally car, it will be expensive but the parts are available.

I've done over 100 stage rallies as a codriver, Pikes Peak hillclimb a couple times and driven rallysprints, rallyX and course opening. Have written a 100 page manual on N American Performance Rally codriving and pacenoting that comes in handy no mater which seat you sit in, driver or codriver. Its $25 if interested.

Weird that of the almost 30 rallycars I've competed in, none have been DSM. Evos I have done. Here is my DSM sometimes stage rally reccecar, rallyX beater and slick weather commuter.
