So im a newbie to DSM's. I just bought a 1995 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD, It has a few upgrades, Greddy cat back exhaust, Greddy 18G turbo, TorboXs boost controller, Dejon intake, Unknown brand tubular headder, Unknown fuel pressure reg, Strut tower brace, B&M short throw shifter, Optima red top Battery, High flow fuel pump(i forgot the name, I think it was red line or something like that) I think thats about it as far as upgrades go. What should i do next? Some people say i need to "Tune" my car? I have no clue what this means I need to do. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Check and see what color tops are on your injectors.. Maybe we can judge which injectors your running by the color..

Also if your running a FPR and a bigger pump, chances are your ether running really crappy, or you have a tune..

So do us a favor, go under the dash, remove the kick panels and look behind the radio...

Disconnect the ECU.. it should be a golden box.. 4 bolts hold it in place, and 4 plug harness's.

Take them out, pull the harness. and open the box up and check the chip on it.. This will allow us to figure out what tuning software, if any you have.

Ok thanks for the help. ill get that ECU checked out tonight or tomorrow! And i have a high volume fuel pump and a crappy adjustable FPR.

Spend the money and get it tuned bro LOL so much less headache

It may be easier, but learning to do it yourself is invaluable. If your going to keep your exact setup for a few years then I suppose thats an ok option; but if your like the rest of us and constantly making changes, you will need a revised tune each and every time. Learn as much as possible and dont be lazy my friend.

Sounds good to me, so without haveing dsm link or anything like that I can still take my car somewhere and have it tuned? even if my ECU is stock?

No. You need a Wideband O2 sensor, a MBC (which you said it has already), and a boost gauge. You'll also need DSMLink or a datalogger with a SAFC. Or make the switch to a flashable ECU found in the 98-99 cars (search "Ceddy").

Im thinking now that maybe my car is running too rich, my buddy could smell lots of raw fuel while following me down the road so im gonna turn down the FPR that is maxed all the way out ad see what happenes. The FPR was maxed all the way out when i bought the car and the guage has been sprung so it does not read properly. what range should my Fuel pressure be in?

43.5 PSI with the vacuum line disconnected. It does have a vacuum line connected to it, right?

Well, no, there are other methods, those are just the best options for 99% of us. Personally, even with an EPROm already I find Link too expensive, though it is very nice, and I find the H8 ECU to be slightly limited in terms of development and testing, although the guy(s) that work on them are very good.

cool, Thanks again for the info! So now im going to see if i can find an EPROM ecu.

hello, my name is chans. Im new to this forum and was hopping some one had a similar issue with there evo 8 ecu swap. my car is a 95 tsi awd, i fallowed the visual guide for ecu installation and the car ran before the swap with exception of a voltage regulation issue with the stock ecu. i swapped all appropriate pins and checked over the wiring over and over. the ecu will talk to a scan tool thru the dlc but a scan tool wont recieve power from the dlc. pin 16 only produces .45v and will not power up a scantool without an external power source. did anyone else have this problem???

This is what you looking for if you want to put in an evo 8 ecu.. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/tuning-engine-management/321515-evo-8-ecu-2g-works.html

Metalmulisha..You should really take your ecu out and check to see if it's an eprom..It's a 95 so it might have an eprom from the factory. If it's not an eprom you can still get the non eprom socketed..Which then it will be ready for a chip, or dsmlink..

i fallowed the visual guide and all the pins are in there respective holes, still only .45v to pin 16 on the dlc. im trying to trace i now to isolate it and check for resistance. if no resistance is found in the wire, what could b causing this low voltage reading?
